Trailer weighs around 1700ish maybe a bit more or less. Truck weighs in the neighborhood of 6500-7000 pounds.

My truck really made me proud that day she handled it like a champ!

No it doesn't. Unless that's a 3/4 ton diesel. Curb weight on a 96 is 4140. http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/ck-1500-series/1996/features-specs.html?sub=extended-cab&ps=used&style=14001, but Im sure thats for a 2WD.....so....Intellichoice puts the GVWR at 6200. GVWR weight = fully loaded to payload capacity. Edited by SnakeEyes

Im pretty sure my buddy knows what his own truck weighs... It had a full tank of gas, toolbox full of tools (tool box was undone, resting in the bed), logging chains in the bed as well as all other stuff in the bed and all the stuff in the cab. Edited by GrapeSoda

Sarah and your buddy need to find a scale, he would have to have more than a few things in there to get it to 7k. Our work truck is 9600 and it's Dodge diesel dually with a bale bed and tool boxes.

My truck weighs in at 6k with my fat ass in it. Also got my front 5160's installed today

A lot of people don't really know much about their own vehicle. I think the numbers those sites pull from GM would be more accurate. Unless you think he knows more than the people who built it.

Pounds must weigh a lot less wherever he is from. Like I said GVWR is the truck fully loaded. All fluids filled up, and the bed filled to the point the payload maxed out. If it really has 1000lb of weight over max payload, it would be a good idea to check out the suspension pronto.

I'll let you know how they ride. I also cranked down an inch. Can't go too far cause of my bent axle tube. I'll have a better review of them in hopefully 2 or 3 weeks

Yay or nay?

I can tell you right now that it needs new shocks, brakes, and a front end alignment. It's to be expected though will all the miles. Let's just say I didn't buy her expecting a perfect truck, and I'm actually looking forward to fixing it up to watch it turn back into a nice truck again.
