Friday got back from vacation. We drove her Jeep so the truck ended up sitting for two weeks. However on Saturday we went to a local beach so the truck got out and stretched for a bit. Also put a deposit down for a "new" transfer case, it's getting pulled and inspected and will hopefully be ready for pick up before too long.

What was your need for a new transfer case? I may be in the same boat as you, I'm interested to know how intense the install will be.

I can do one in about 2 hours on the ground. That's with having to remove the kicker braces for my lift

I'm replacing all the brake lines

ABS will be moved to outside of frame rail.

One reason is that I need to get at the fuel filter and lines that were behind the ABS unit. What a bunch at G M. Good time to do it all while I'm there.

Reason two is why would I install the stuff back to a dumb location again

Glad I have my 1974 c10 up and running.

I got this truck for a project, and so far it has been

If you lose interest in vehicles consider yourself lucky. You'll save a ton of money. No matter how much I like my vehicle I'm looking about a year in a half to two years, it's like ok so little time so many cars. After 41 years and over 100 new and used cars my wife just laughs any more. I've had car payments for 42 years I don't bother paying them off anymore. It's pretty much my only vise so I guess it's not so bad.

Mild coke addiction might be cheaper

I'm constantly looking at things I want; more realistically more lights and on board air, less realistically supercharger.

Have 2 other vehicles that want upgrades too, so it's tough and I rarely pull the trigger between trying to plan between the 3.

I'm getting to the point were I need new truck or there will be nothing left of it by the time it hits 80 000KM I keep wrecking shit but not fixing nothing don't plan on fixing any thing either the inner liners can rub the tires all they want or completey fall off for all I care. **** I can't remember last time I even changed or checked the oil.

Hey man, sounds like you need to take a vacation or something to shake things up. Not to say you need to make your truck a "show-stopper", but you spent some pretty good coin on that truck. Might as well try to get the most out of it. Summertime in Canada has got to be a beautiful place, take a road trip....in maybe something other than your truck so you can come home to it and see it after some time away.

It needs to much work to make it nice iv bent the brackets on the running boards last time I caught air with the truck fender liners are hanging on by a thread the inside of the box is all dented and scratches up rear bumper is starting to rust tires are getting to the point were there almost done iv wrecked the front end the steering wheel isn't straight when the wheels are and just had wheel alignment done. Windshield is getting bad lots of beer and coffee has bin spilt in the cloth seats and never cleaned its just done its to far gone. Pluss I just really want a brand new truck just this time I'm not going to rush it this time. I'm going to let the truck I want come to me.

Dont the wheel liners also attach to the front bumper? I see yours has either taken damage or wasnt aligned correctly. That could be the problem.

No they don't atach to the bumper or least mine never did the bumper is for a HD not a 1500 when and if I get around to it I got to custom fab up my own brackets to fit the bumper better. The fender liners are sagin due to built up mud and off-road abuse but I'm just going to let them dangle no point on fixing something that's just going to keep happening.

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
