Went out to my truck to check something for my buddy. Passenger door lock acting up again where it won't lock/unlock. Checked what I needed to for my buddy then proceeded to play with the door. So what did I do with my truck? I found out the alarm works even if the door doesn't lock like the rest of the truck. I think I went deaf for a couple seconds and almost scared the poop out of me. Yay obnoxiously loud air horns. Buddy didn't find it funny though. At least he was on the other side of the truck getting into his car and not right next to where the horns mount lol. Maybe I'll pull the door apart and check the wiring today. I can lock/unlock it manually moving the lock but it doesn't work electrically. Randomly does this every now and then I just don't pay much attention since I rarely have passengers.

It is your door lock actuator that is going bad. Had that happen twice on my old 08 tahoe.

all 4 went out on my 08. 3 were replaced under warranty! I watched a youtube video and did the last one myself.

Found out the motor doesn't have a dipstick which is odd cause it doesn't leak oil. Need to get this checked out

Well, those came with one from the factory ... so it must've fallen out or rotted away ... ???

Went back to tire kingdom and had them check the balance. Tech took it for a road test beforehand and said feels like a front bearing I'd going bad. Think he said front left. They quoted me $693.42 for that. So I guess I'll see if my buddy wants to tackle that. Do people replace both fronts or just the one that's bad?

Every time I've had customers do just one, the other side ended up making noise when I was done - couldn't hear it before, since one side was really bad. Change that bad one, then the problem becomes evident on the other side. Never fails ...

Whenever I do front end stuff now, I do both sides every time. Saves alot of headaches down the road.

I don't even hear any noise though. So I'm not sure it is a bearing issue. Just what TK said. Said that's why it gets all screwy over bumps. I've just been dealing with it thinking I just suck at driving haha. Something is probably wrong I just don't know what.

Yeah, noises these days can be a pain in the ass. Especially for guys of my generation and older - we were trained on sounds that stayed the same for decades, and now EVERYTHING is different. It's aggravating.

Stuff is built so cheap today compared to the stuff of the 40's- late 70's that one sound seems like it's coming from everywhere - the entire vehicle becomes a speaker.

I can never find any chassis noises on my truck - hard to hear over all the squeaking plastic ...

Yeah, I've learned that when the handing doesn't feel right, there's always a reason for it. Lots of times I go scortched-earth on front end noises on my vehicles - I'll rip it all out and replace it - upper/lower ball joints, control arm bushings if the vehicle is old enough, steering box (also depending on age), pitman, idler, inner/outer tie rods, and wheel bearings. Makes for a fun filled and EXPENSIVE weekend, but the problem will be gone .... unless it was crappy tires. :)

I pulled a Uhaul 6x12 today, the sticker states the unloaded weight is 1930 lbs. I would guess it was loaded to about 3200 lbs. But it pulled like a brick. I have pulled 6000 lb loads that seemed easier.

The outdoor temp was in the mid 80's. My highest engine temp was 213, highest trans temp was 197.

I decided that since I had Memorial Day off so could my truck and drove the lawnmower instead......cut the lawn better than my Denali would have anyway.

Those things are notorious for poor maintenance. Probably had 2 dry wheel bearings ... and plus, they are as aerodynamic as a brick wall.

I towed a 5x8 all the way across the country with my 1st '86 Grand Marquis about 18 years ago. Going across NM, I couldn't go any faster than 55 MPH, or the engine light would come on (overheating) - was a constant headwind the entire way. That hitch is so friggin long (so people won't crease the corners backing up) that the air dives down right into the front of the thing, instead of sailing over the top. 10x worse with a pickup too. Like dragging a giant boat anchor.
