Brother tested the switch and ran some tests. Encoder motor is getting its 5v reference but only putting out 3v to actuator so its not going, thats why it threw a circuit malfunction code before. He can get one from gm for 179 and will be put in thursday.

Got my new u bolts in:

My buddy has my u bolt flip kit plate. Needed the center hole drilled out bigger to fit over the spring center pin. New driveshaft is in the mail and be here thursday. My axle builder said he should have it done by the end of the week which would be awesome!

Installed these today, and came to find out that my drivers side fog light doesn't work. Now I have to figure out why.

Must be an alternate approach. Indy has several runways so maybe winds are dictating a different approach. You can ask Siri what planes are above you if you're curious about their origin.

It's different all the time some days no planes other days fed ex planes are landing on my roof. We are in the flight path of the life flight helicopter that thing flys low. Few wks ago I have no idea why maybe because all the kids were out on the block? He flew in circles above us for about 5 mins then came

Over the trees nose down and took off. Pretty cool stuff

One of the coolest things I've seen in recent years was heading on I90 in western Massachusetts. Westover AFB has F15s and they'll show off going over the freeway. Before the Soviet Union broke up there was a lot more activity in the northeast too. NH had F-111s that were part of the SAC so they were always coming and going. When I was real little when we'd be up on Lake Champlain in Vermont the F-16s out of Plattsburgh would go low and fast across the lake. Like a guy with a good arm could knock a ball off the plane low. Loved that. Fighters are probably the coolest thing on the planet.

F35 is a phenomenal aircraft. Haven't seen one up close but I am sure I will get to since we make the lift system

U bolt flip kit?

It flips the U bolt upside down so it doesn't have extra length from the u bolt hanging down. One less thing to drag or catch when offroading

Do you know the history of the JSF program? We aren't talking about the Stealth Fighter or the SR-71.

 

It was a complete mess, way over time and budget. Chinese hacked the Pentagon, stole the plans, and have what is essentially a Chinese fighter believe to be on par(maybe better since they know our secrets) that was designed, built, and put in the air a good 5 years before the JSF planes were on a comparative scale. When a Telegraph spy photographer somehow got a photo of the Chinese plane taking off for a test flight over 2 years ago, the Pentagon admitted their intelligence said it wasn't going to be flight ready for 3-5 more years. F35 was supposed to be in service years ago, and there is a whole conspiracy movement about Lockheed not getting the bid to build their version.

 

Its a miracle the plane turned out that good, but then again that is compared to the F16 which is pretty old by technological standards.

 

Its kinda scary how the US was SO awesome and advanced with the SR71, F15, F16, Stealth planes, and then the next generation there is so much crap going on no one can get the dang things built.

 

Some bureaucrats decide the money was better spent on server farms to violate civil liberty than get the military the gear it really needs.

      I know; crap pictures.   Anyway, as a finale of sorts to this thread, I had replaced both differential covers and since they had the capability of adding temperature probes, I did that. These are MaxTow analog/digital gauges with stepper motors. They'll flutter around like crazy for a moment and start at a nominal 100 degrees Fahrenheit.   I drove a 30-mile loop to the grocery store, averaging 70 MPH (as much as 80 to see if there was a quick spike in temperature. The air temperature is 102 (ambient ?). but the first pic is 7 miles into the trip. The second is getting back into the truck after leaving the store; differential temperatures dropped about three to four degrees in 15 minutes. The third pic in on the road to my house, about a mile away.   In that run, I saw a high of 150F on the rear differential, and 121F on the front. I'm sure a longer drive or towing will see higher than that, and when that happens, I can update the observations.

      Fully warm, coolant temp >194, closed loop.   Run time can be anywhere from just reached operating temperature to having driven 30+ miles.   The O2 chart (which is a feature I just discovered after reading) for the bad idle seems to be "most" of the time. For the little time I've been watching it (scanning and driving! watchout!) I can't seem to isolate any cause or condition yet.   It definitely idles rougher sometimes than others and so far what I've seen is the rougher idles are always rich. But not enough to set a CEL.   In other news I replaced the starter solenoid. Everything on this truck is such a PITA. Starter "snout" is mangled up with the torque converter inspection cover which is tangled up with hard cooling lines and the driveshaft. But I got 'er done without too much swearing...I just go into everything now knowing it's going to be a frustrating mess.   The starter solenoid replacement kicks off the next round of work: AC, injector rebuild, cat, exhaust. I'm just going to do it all. But first:   I don't know what my fuel pressures are. I can't definitively say the issue is the injector without first verifying fuel pressures and any leakdown. I "rented" a test kit ($199.99 at O'Really's ...intentional misspelling). They don't "rent" tools anymore, they charge you for the tool and then you return it when you're done. No joke. It is listed as a rental on the receipt but the guy told me there's no difference between renting and buying  now, you just return it when you're done and they refund the credit card. Mmmkay, whatever.   I will rule out fuel pressure issues (too much), and any leaking (that's how I'll know the problem is inside the intake). I think someone said the return line could be plugged or not flowing and that could cause high fuel pressure (and too much fuel being pushed through injectors). I'll cross that bridge if I get high readings.   As of now I'm ready to tear off the intake cover, extract the injector, and have it sent off to be rebuilt just so I can rule that out.

      What are the conditions of this rich idle? Warm or cold engine? Run time? Does every idle look like this or only sometimes?
