Sure, if you raise compression to compensate for it's lack of "bang". There is no free lunch - it the truck is optimized to run on E85, then it is NOT optimized to run on regular unleaded. No fancy wiz-bang electronics can change the laws of physics.

 

I still call b/s on that claim. Unless I saw back to back dyno results using E85, and then unleaded, or vice-versa, I don't buy it, because it's not possible without engine modifications. So in your world, gasoline beats diesel. Just because the internet & GM might say so doesn't make it true. I don't see Freightliner or Peterbilt scrapping their diesel programs any time soon ...

Go ahead and tell me some facts of E85 on fuel injected motors controlled by a computer. Maybe you should "look that up". We can spin this however we want for both of us to be right. The point is, there are benefits to E85 for horsepower and torque numbers, especially if tuned correctly. There are also engines were there are absolutely no gains to be made, you are correct.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW?

 

My truck IS computer controlled, and it ABSOLUTELY loses power and mileage on E85. Are you telling me otherwise?

No one is debating the difference in energy density. But that is only one factor. There are tons of things that effect power building. Manufacturers can make more power on E85 and run fine on 87 too. Fact.
