I can assure you that the MK25 is a LOT better pistol as a SA. DA really does suck.

But ...

Would a round chambered and the hammer de-cocked (like the 226) be just as safe as a chambered round with a safety engaged (like on a 1911)?

Yes. There is a firing pin block similar to a Series 80 1911. The MK25 is just a improved P226, there aren't any operational differences. Almost all Sigs use the DA/SA trigger and I've yet to shoot a better DA/SA pistol than a Sig.

Kilo, that DE grip looks awesome! Is it a carry gun or a weekend shooter?

Thanks for the info. Mike. I'm no expert and learn something new all the time. Its great to pick the minds of other users.

On an unrelated note ...

Impulse buy of the week ...

XDs9_1.jpg

God endowed me with lobster claws. So I didn't like the Shield because the grip was too narrow and too skinny. After 2 or 3 rounds it would walk in my palm making me stop and reset my grip. It was like holding a skinny deck of cards. I installed a Hogue sleeve and it helped, but in the end, I passed it on to some one else.

A friend let me run a few rounds through his XDs45. It was a great gun and felt great in my hands. But the reality of it was all that umph just made it a little hard to quickly empty a mag in a panic situation and stay on target. I mean isn't that the reason for an EDC weapon? Or is it to make "look at me" posts on the internet?

So I waited for the 9mm version. Seen a few in the $700 - $800 range ... pass.

Went to a local, small gun show and guess what I found!

The XDs9 has a much bigger grip ... a tad bit thicker than the Shield and much wider. Much easier to grip. 7 rounds went by amazingly fast ... Need more than the supplied two. I ordered a couple 9 rounders.

I ran ~50 rounds of 115g FMJ and never once did it hiccup. Target picture was easy to acquire and maintain. And getting back on target after firing a round was very easy.

At 10 yards I was able to group two full mags (14 rounds) in a 6" circle.

Trigger was very XDm-ish.

The only negatives I can come up with is that the slide kept rubbing on the Webb g of my hand between my thumb and fore finger. I didn't get bit, but there is a red spot where it rubbed it.

Second is I had difficulty dropping a spent mag. My grip draped below the bottom of the guns grip and kept gravity from doing its job. I had to release my shooting grip in order to replenish the guns appetite. The 9 round mags come with an extension. I'm thinking that extra inch will make all the difference.

For me, the Sig938 for me is a much better EDC platform. But I also like 1911s ... all of them.

This a great gun and at $500 price point is a great option. Unlike the Shield, I don't have buyers remorse on the XDs.

Thanks!

My Mk25 is just a weekend/"wanted to have it" piece. I carry a P229 on duty and a Glock 27 off duty.

Add a Short Reset Trigger (SRT) to your Sig DA/SA and you'll really be happy.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
