Thieves stealing side body moldings on Crew Cabs

I live in Oklahoma City and didn't know if my situation is a local problem or if this is happening across the country? Locally, they are stripping the LTZ type side body moldings (color matching with chrome strip) off of Crew Cab Silverados and GMC Sierras. My truck color is the "white diamond" (the #1 desired by thieves). When I went outside one morning, I found all four doors had been stripped and they tried to remove the RH mirror. When the officer came to fill out the report, she said this was the third one she had personally done that week. I have since ran into a dozen or so others with the same story. Any ideas on where these are being sold or used? Also, any ideas on getting replacements? I'm not sure I want to fix my truck back "correctly" since I will be a target as much as I was to begin with. I welcome some feedback here.

Thanks!

Never heard of it. Every white diamond would have come with that molding, so the only reason to steal it would be for replacement on a wrecked truck or previously stolen.

You may consider replacing with molding from a 03-06 crewcab GMC which had a plain chrome strip, it would be different, still provide protection and dodge the thieves from being hit again.

I bet it's the Dealership paying someone to steal everyone's molding. Then they replace the LS and LT molding with your fancy molding and sell the trucks for more money. Then everyone one who's molding got taken will go to the dealer and pay to fix it. The dealer gets a win win :lol:

I could see why somebody would want to replace the standard body color molding with one with chrome strip. My 2011 body color moldings look pretty cheap to be on a $40K+ truck. But to steal them off another truck would be inviting a well deserved load of buckshot. :M16:

All I can say is WOW! And yea, I would be P***** if my door trim would be stolen.

Either go with the trim off (a lot of people are doing it) or get the molding without the chrome strip to prevent furture occurances. Or, a thrid option you could do is, get the insureance company to buy you another set but hold off putting them on till after things calms down in your area. I would bet it will calm down in the next couple of years after the 2014's come out. Good luck!

I live in OKC and mine are safe for now but I would be pissed. Altho mine are just body color

You're probably safe. In every case I've come across, they've taken the color trim with the chrome strip on top. They are going for the tri-coat paint schemes first.

I remember this being a big probably for stock 20's because they are not cheap. They are often more expensive than aftermarket.

I sold my stock 20" rims for 700.00, that's all they are going for where I live.
