I'm not really sure about it but I think the air condition is better for the fuel economy than open windows. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have always heard windows down and air off if your below 40 mph and windows up and air on after that. Due to the amount of resistance/drag of the windows being down while the vechile is in motion.

I remember being taught that as well. However in this heat wave plus humidity I'd probably melt...lol

I usually enjoy a cup of coffee and light breakfast while being the slow one. It does save gas.

I've heard claims of Suburbans getting 28 mpg on long trips as long as you stay above 75mph. Gonna get to test that out in a couple weeks when I go on vacation...

That seems like a stretch unless you're on some fairly flat roads but, When I went on a road trip from Sc. to Tx, I averaged about 18.3-19.8ish, that was going 70mph-80mph.

Yeah, 28 mpg seems a little far fetched (maybe downhill with a tail wind) but we'll see. If I get 20 I'll be pretty happy.

If 'Burbs came with a little Dmax I bet they'd do 28.

theres a company in florida that'll swap a dmax into your burb or hoe...for a cool 30k

just road tripped my 2006 silverado. DIC showed 16.4 to start from normal driving to 16.7 at end of trip. Went 75-80 washington to missouri.

Stock 17" wheels. Son had his military crap in truck so more weight to haul around.

When i first got the truck i got 17 from spokane washington to seattle with 18" wheels. not loaded. but truck ran great and was happy with the miles.

Besides it is my sons truck now. I got my Blue Granite 06 silverado now.
