Getting Line-X'ed tomorrow

So decided to finally pull the trigger and get the truck Line-X 'ed. My last pickup was too so I know it's a quality product. Two questions:

Those of you who got the premium spray (or whatever it's called) to protect it from fading; has it held up? They want $100 extra to put the additional spray that keeps it looking new. I plan to do it but wonder if any have had issues with it not lasting.

Also, my bed is dirty. Should I get up early and clean it before taking it in? I know they have to scuff/sand the paint so I assume the little bit of dirt is fine.

Thanks, Steve

Didn't get the premium anything and even in the Georgia sun and heat, mine has actually held up just fine. Personal choice, but I have no regrets. As far as bed cleanliness I guess it's dependent on who's doing the work. Personally I just made sure I had nothing stuck (clumps of mud or whatever) in the corners/seems of the bed. I'd safely bet a little "dust" of whatever shouldn't matter (like you said, they need to scuff the paint anyway).

One suggestion, if you keep a hitch or anything in your receiver, please remove it. The worker's shins will appreciate it. I forgot about my hitch and didn't have the key on me, he was still willing to do the work but was not happy about it...oops.

Edit: Oh yeah and make sure they remove the bolts holding your tailgate handle before spraying.

How did it turn out? I got mine done a day after I picked it up new and love it! Got the extra non-fade stuff put in and color-matched too. Have any pics?

I'm very happy with how it turned out. I did pay the extra 100 to have the uv protectant/premium spray. I didn't color match. I'll try to get a pic up this evening.

you'll be happy with the premium i had it sprayed on my dirtbike and my truck both were awesome. this truck now has color match :D and it's pretty damn close really, the biggest difference is obviously looking at a smooth finish vs a textured finish

You also need to decide if you want to have the plugs in or out when it is coated. I left mine out, and put them in after it was done. They are a bit tough to get back in after the spray, but, if you leave them in, there is no getting them out afterwards.

I got the under rail done, and added bedrail protectors, plus the tonneau cover, so fading is not an issue for me. You also need to decide about the Line-X plaque. I had mine installed into the glovebox, did not want their logo on the box. With tonneau cover, no one would see the plaque anyways.

They will clean the bed of the truck up. They have to if they want to guarantee the spray will adhere properly. Did seem funny to me when they did mine, I had it done to prevent the box from getting all scratched up, and the first thing they did was scratch it all up.

Appreciate the info, but as the OP it's done. The plaque is only double sided and can be removed. I thought about taking the plugs out, but I'll never use the factory system they give access to, and they can be removed afterwards with some work. Appreciate all the info.

Haha...yeah about them scratching it up part. I picked up my truck new from the dealer and went straight to line-x. Wasn't a good feeling seeing them grinding down my rocker panels and box...>YIKES> Turned out awesome though.

To the OP.....Looks great!
