Hi, haven't posted in over a year because I made a pretty dumb decision then. I traded my extremely reliable 2005 4.8 w/100K miles for a new Dodge Challenger.....big mistake. It has been plagued with numerous warranty related issues, most of which are electrical. Anyway, lately I've been looking at new Silverados again. I have a question for those of you who have the power adjustable pedals. I'm fairly tall and my wife is short, would this be a worthwile option to consider? None of the dealers have them. Oh yeah, no 5.3 for me after reading about oil burning ect. Thanks

I have the pedals but am the only one that drives my truck. Depending what options you get they maybe included.

I could see where they might be nice to have, she could move the pedals back instead of putting her face against the airbag.

If your getting the 6.2 you will love it!

I got the power pedals also. The wife likes them so she doesn't have to move the seat up so far and can keep a little distance from the steering wheel. It was worth getting... even thou I wasn't specifically after it. Just came with the truck.

woohoo! a 4.8!!

i personally wouldn't recommend a 4.8 when the 6.2 is out. just drove a 6.2 yesterday and it rips. anything with a 6.2 will be a lot more pricey then a 4.8 though.

Sorry to hear of your problems with the Challenger. Mine has been troublefree.

Yes if you have two drivers of significantly different heights, get the adjustable pedals and memory adjustments if possible.

The 5.3 power in my truck is just barely adequate. If it was a daily driver, I would not be happy with the power even though I consider a truck a utility vehicle, not a performance vehicle. I can't imagine doing any frequent towing with my truck from a lack of power standpoint. The good thing I can say about the 5.3 is the power is a lot better than the 1998 5.7 it replaced.

Oil burning issues with the 5.3 are blown way out of proportion. GM has put millions of 5.3s into the trucks and SUVs and only a few have issues. That said, if you can find a 6.2 I'd go with that. No way I'd settle for the lower power of the 4.8 just because the 5.3 might burn oil though.

The reason I prefer the 4,8 is because of my experience with it. Personally, I thought it had plenty of power with 22-23 freeway mpg's and rock solid reliable. BTW, bought this today, and yes, it has the 4.8, love it.
