Show us some inside pics of the dash please. I would like to see the nav lay out. My biggest concern and the reason I have not purchased a ford is the long timming chain. Think about it on a gm say it has 60 links as an imaginary number and they strech .001 of an inch multiply that by 60 you get .060 total stretch stretch. Now take fords lets say 240 links with the same stretch would be .240. that is almost a 1/4 inch length change on each cam as they are independent which could equal to about 1 tooth off on your timming. Stretch like this is not going to happen for a while, but that is my personal reasoning as I have personally seen these chains in the modular engines stretch and fail and i tend to keep my vehicles a long time and plan on work my chevy hard. I may just be overly paranoid.

While there is extra chain to wear on the ford, you have to account for wear in pushrods, rockers, etc in the GM. I like the simplicity of a single cam, but I'm wondering how long GM is going to stay with the pushrod setup. IMO the 5.0 is a good motor, but I like the GM's the best. Will be interesting to see what next gen brings.

Over head cams have there purpose and they fit it well, but fell they have no place in a truck, but that is my opinion.

I will get some interior pics tomorrow.

These are all some valid and arguable points. Lol.

The 5.0 has been proven in the past. Yea there have been changes made to the current one from the past but I feel it is a solid motor. Then again, if I wanted to list pros and cons of anything anywhere, there would be items on both lists.

But I am impressed, figured there might be a lot of bashing on here lol.

So far this thing is solid and I really cannot find any complaints. My 08 and 10 GM's were solid as well. I did have some complaints and issues, but GM could easily be the biggest and baddest when the K2's roll out. For now, I feel this truck is best for me. My personal feeling is this one is cooler, stronger and better than my GM. But that's just my opinion of it being my truck. I've always been around fords, that is all my dad has ever bought. His 2011 king ranch half ton has been awesome, and he drives his trucks hard. All of his other fords have always been awesome as well. He puts 80k on them in about a year with all sorts of driving and terrains.

Congrats on the blue oval.

At least Ford got one thing right, they circled the problem! LOL

I hope your not going to change your avatar, it has to be the best one on this forum.

For the most part everyone on this site is pretty understanding and doesn't hate other brands. Nothing wrong with getting what you want.

We all know one day you will be back

Enjoy the new truck

That is one sharp F-150! I like them myself and almost bought one, but it wasn't worth what they wanted for it.

Lol. Thanks again! I'm doing a ton of research trying to figure out what tuner I want. Seems like an SCT handheld with a custom tune.....

Without a doubt, too many vehicles nowadays are overpriced. Ford is definitely proud of these things.

Yes they are. They only wanted to go down to $35,000 from 37, and my current truck has way more options and the 6.2 instead of the smaller 5.0 so I got a better deal on the Chevy. Im into GM hard core, but honestly if I could have gotten that truck at the right price I probably would own it right now even though I don't care for Ford's engine designs I still love the current body style F-150. Heres a pic of the one I looked at.

The one thing i really like about the f-150 is the bigger interior, almost traded for one just to have more space in the back seat for the kids.

I don't like the looks of any fords post 1990 aside from the raptor but I do like that the crew cabs are very roomy

    • Thanks, all. It sounds like keeping the software "as is" is the best course of action.
    • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overengineering   Excerpt from the above link: (BTW the above is a 90 second read)   [Quote]   A story about very precise engineering is given in the 1858 story The Deacon's Masterpiece or, the Wonderful "One-hoss Shay": A Logical Story by Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr., which tells of a carriage (one-horse shay) Because it had been engineered so that no single piece failed first – no piece was over-engineered relative to the others, and they thus all collapsed at the same time. A similar quote by Ferdinand Porsche claimed "the perfect race car crosses the finish line in first place and immediately falls into pieces."[5]   [End Quote}   By Engineering's  own definition then; the AFM and Torque Converters, 4-5-6 clutch assembly of the 6L80E, and a dozen other common chronic parts and systems failures are "UNDER ENGINEERED". And by their own definition done so with INTENT. Ya can't have it both ways OEM's.

    • I was in Utah this week attempting a bow hunt in the Wasatch mountains with friends.  On the evening of the first hunt, making my way across a ridge to a friends camp, the upper control arm on the driver's side separated, the CV axle got trashed, and the wheel was dang near at a 45 degree angle to the ground.  I was able to get it towed off the mountain and into town about 3:00 am, and spent the remainder of the night in an O'Reilly's parking lot.  Luckily, there was a Chevrolet dealership not to far away so I was able to get to the dealership and pick up a new CV and UCA.  It would have been a few days before they could have gotten to the truck and I brought tools with me on hunt since it was a two day drive to get there, so I did the repairs myself in the O'Reilly's parking lot.      What's interesting is that the UCA ball joint didn't break, it just popped out of the bottom of the UCA.  There was VERY LITTLE evidence of grease on the ball joint or in the socket, and you could see where the ball joint had warbled out part of the socket over time.  I guess that's what happens over 186K miles of use :)   Big Kudos to O'Reilly's for letting me work on the truck in their parking lot.  However, they made a $150+ off of me from the purchase of various tools, so I guess it was in their best interest anyways :)   Getting towed off the mountain.   UCA Ball Joint Socket   Trashed CV   Suspension disconnected and UCA and CV Removed   New UCA and CV installed with the suspension buttoned up.
    • My family still laughs at me when they see me drive up in the minivan. Same with less than a V-8 truck. It helps that I have choices. I don’t think I could only have a minivan as the one and only vehicle as much as I like it. And I wouldn’t pass up a good buy on an older V-8 reg cab GM truck. Could you live Raven as the only ride?
