Sierra down!

Well folks, may have written off my baby.. first off, everyone's fine, no injuries apparent.

Was doing about 60km/h northbound through an intersection on a green, a guy in a Ram pointing southbound made a left turn in front of me. I managed to swerve to avoid a straight-on t-bone collision into his pass door, but my front drivers side rammed (no pun intended) into his front passenger fender area...

He spun in place, I deflected off him, over a median, and onto the sidewalk. I don't know if she's goin to make it.

Both curtain airbags and drivers airbag deployed, plus god knows how much body/engine/frame damage :(

Props to OnStar (even though I'm not a subscriber and actually using a bluetooth VCIM that 'disables' regular OnStar) for connecting to me (triggered from the airbags I'm sure), and patching me through to 911 and relaying my GPS location.

glad you walked away. The truck can be replaced!

As everyone else has been saying, glad to hear that everyone is ok and there were no injuries. Trucks can be replaced, though we always hold a special attachment to them. Looks like all the safety equipment worked as advertised!

Also, it is interesting to hear that Onstar contacted you even though you didn't have an active subsription. That was pretty cool.

Thanks guys. It KILLS me to see her like this.

The insurance company and police have assessed the other driver 100% responsibility (failing to yield on left turn). As for fixing it...... well the initial ballpark estimates don't look good. Airbag modules being worth what they are (and THREE of them deployed)... body, engine, paint, etc.... rough estimate sits at about 17K+

On the other hand, do I WANT a truck that has had 17K worth of repairs on it???? So yeah, doesn't look good, she may be going to the salvage yard in the sky. :(

Attached a pic of the Ram. Doesn't look as bad as mine, but keep in mind I swerved to avoid driving straight into his passenger door, and clipped his front fender/headlight area instead. And then another pic of her on the hook.
