Soft Brake Pedal

'94 GMC Suburban with soft brake pedal and excessive travel. New Master cylinder did not correct. Bled system repeatedly, no air detected. No leaks detected. Good pads on front and adjustment on rear shoes. Has AWAL brake system and hydaulic booster powered by pwr steering pump. No problems with pump or fluid level. Any ideas, suggestion are most greatly appreciated. JB

The only other thing I can think of is you may have a very small leak somewhere along a frame rail or such. I'd go from master cylinder to rear wheel and look for any brake fluid spray.

These trucks were very sensitive to cheap "hard" pads that would cause a low pedal, also worn out hub assembly (4x4) or loose bearings (2wd) will cause a longer brake pedal travel. These didn't have the firmest of pedals from the word go anyway

Caliper pins...make sure they are free and slide easy. I had a real soft pedal in my sierra. All the pins were seized. The front of the rotor looked fine but when you looked at the back of it only about an inch of the pad was touching the back of the rotor from the calipers not sliding correctly. Put 2 new loaded calipers on it. Problem solved!

 

Just like you I bled that thing at least 4-5 times in a 6 month period and had no improvement. Changed master cylinder and still nothing until I took the calipers off and found none of the pins moved
