Looks good! How long have you had it installed? Any rake still?

About 2 months, haven't measured to be exact but looks really level

Just wanted to drop a post and give you the details. I threw the Rough Country 2" level on the front of my 2016 Sierra 1500 z71. Then went and picked up a set of 275/65/20 BF All Terrain TA KO2s. No rubbing.. would potentially rub the liner with the wheel cranked to the left if I was hitting some good bumps (think I will do the zip tie approach some others had mentioned before) I would have liked a little wider tire and also kind of liked the Cooper STTs but since it's my daily driver I chose to go with a smoother tire that should wear better and keep noise down.

Picturess may be out of order but I went from 36/40 to 38/40 so its not perfectly level but I think it's where I want it.

Truck looks great! the level makes such a big difference. Im adding a 2" rough country next weekend. Have you noticed a difference in ride?

The front seems stiffer going over speed bumps etc to me but nothing on my truck is really broke in as it only has 2k miles. I also added the bigger LT tires that replaced the soft stock tires so it was all to be expected. Outside of over the bumps it still feels fine to me cruising down the road.

I went to the dealer today just to see how warranty would be affected before I purchase a 1.5" level and 275/60/20 ko2s. He told me it won't affect it unless it's a wear item caused from the level. Can they not just say it was caused from the level? Then when I mentioned bigger tires he said he would be more nervous of the bigger tires hurting my warranty since I'm only running 265/70/20 right now. He then called me after to say he could program my truck for 275/55/20 even if I put on 275/60/20.

Just interested to know should I just stick with the 55 to not cause misery or just go with the 60s on a 55 program?

I'd way rather the 275/60/20

Also does this sound right about warranty or should I try another dealer?

Hello from Vancouver Island, opposite end of the country!. The warranty will not be an issue unless they can prove your changes caused the problem. I plan to have my dealer install my 1.5 level and new tires to reduce the opportunity for them to play the blame game. I am hearing that this size of level is pretty harmless. However, I've chosen to stick with 265's as my climbing ability (and that of my peer group) is deteriorating!

I had my dealer put on my 2" level and 275/70/18's
I'd say thats a decent way to go if you want to alleviate future issues with the dealership.

The worst is I have 2 shops that are within 10 minutes of my house that will do the work for 200$ less. Or drive over an hour to my dealer for more money lol. But if it will save me trouble its the route I will likely take. I may contact dealer and get all my work done at the shop near my home, then go down and get it aligned and speedo calibrated at dealer.

I talked to my dealer about installing a leveling kit just so if I had any future issues they would be the ones that installed it. When I asked them if they install them they looked at me like I was crazy.

This is the crap i have to deal with right now. As soon as they saw the level they called my girl to pick up her trucl because thats what caused her leafsprings to squeek like crazy.

Good Lord, and don't put any weight in the bed either, it may change the geometry of the suspension. Edited by Guru

    • I know when I was looking around last year to see if someone handled Amsoil gear oil to buy at the retail level which of course means full price. I found an independent shop that works a lot on GM/Duramax pickups and they did not bring in the 75W-85 as they just stuck to the 75W-90 for the front and rear as a standard practice for the HD trucks which makes sense anyway for the higher hp/torque diesel and pulling heavy loads in four wheel drive. I haven't changed my diff oils yet but still plan on using the 75W-85 for the front diff as I highly doubt I will be beating on the truck and figured for my use type the bit thinner oil would be to my benefit for the winter for that slightly less drag. Very different weather here all winter vs northern Washington near the coast, that's for sure. 
    • Ok that confirms the extra quart theme they are still going with which must mean they have noted some initial use more so then some engines and probably the bigger factor in all of this probably isn't the engine so much as its the insane distance or OLM that lulls a lot of the driving public into driving their new vehicle off the lot and not even doing one short interval oil change because the manufacturer doesn't say different and if the dealer follows that logic as well. Selling the rarely needing to be serviced concept seems to go over well with the public that wants to get away with as little as possible for dollars spent on the vehicles maintenance and I bet there are 3.0 engines just like other vehicles out there that never have their oil checked by the owner which goes back to why they probably felt the need to add that extra quart to avoid a costly theme.    Speaking of cutting filters open, it was probably over two years ago now that a youtuber who buys vehicles to do longer term reviews and pulls a fifth wheel through the mountains of Colorado on summer trips and that becomes part of the testing. Anyway he had a GM HD with the 6.6 gas and a Ford 250 with the 7.3 gas at the same time and of no surprise the Ford had more power etc but somewhere along the way in the few thousand miles he put on the truck, he changed the oil and was seeing glitter and cut open the filter and yeah, things were not looking spectacular. The truck about that time or soon after seemed down on power compared to what it had been and then threw some engine code, I expect the cam/lifters were failing and so he brought the truck back to the dealer and made some deal to get out of it as he knew it would sit for months waiting on a new engine as they were so backlogged at the time. He kept the GM for some time after that using it exclusively until he sold it after buying his next vehicle to do a review on. Definitely the filter can tell a story when things are starting to go sideways, but it would be a sickening feeling to cut it open and be faced with an ugly mess like that and be running a magnet through the pleats and the oil on the dirty side of the filter and see all the fines sticking to the magnet.    The dealer may have some ideas based on experience as to where that coolant smell is coming from, I would imagine if they can't find it but its smelling they would put dye in it to they could give it a run cycle and use the black light to see where it pops up, if its a hose connection, water pump, rad or even a head gasket etc.
