Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. There seems to be a lot of hate in this thread. I guess I got lucky. I have not experienced many issues with my Intellilink system. The voice commands are OK. Not perfect, but I have not come across any voice recognition system that is on the money every time. I rarely use SD cards or USB sticks - this part of the system could be better. I connect my iPhone via USB and bluetooth. I always use the USB simply because I like that it charges my phone. I use Pandora mostly. Depending on the day and time, I will also listen to a radio station. Every time I leave Pandora to go to the radio or turn off the truck, it pauses.

I have no problem working with this system. I spent a few minutes getting myself familiar with it when I bought it 18 months ago. I found the features I like and ignored the rest. It did lock up on me once. I was able to get it back, but I found that there is an update for it that is supposed to keep that from happening again. I am taking it in for an oil change tomorrow, and I asked them to update it for me. If this update creates any of the issues I have seen you guys complain about, I'll let you know.

**PLEASE HELP** 2014 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 - Intellilink favorites tabs display station number vs. station name (i.e. "XM114" instead of "Fox News Channel")

The service dept at the dealership and GM Customer Service have been useless on this effort, telling me the only solution is to manually type in the name of each channel... SERIOUSLY??!!

Hopefully someone out there can help me with this, and I truly believe this is a simple firmware issue, because consider the following:

1. I had a 2013 Sierra Denali (old body style) and favorites tabs displayed the STATION NAME

2. My wife drives a 2014 Acadia Denali (w/ Intellilink) - her favorites display STATION NAME

3. My 2015 Yukon XL Denali (w/ Intellilink)... Favorites tabs display the STATION NAME

None of my other vehicles required manually inputting/changing the station id.

I anxiously await someone's hopeful solution to this because I don't even bother changing stations in my truck.

They updated my truck's system last week. I haven't really noticed much of anything changed. The media player - SD and off my phone seems to run a little smoother, but it wasn't a major issue before. I still primarily use Pandora anyway.

qrk, I didn't re-up the XM subscription after the trial. I don't use it enough to justify. I know my wife's 2011 Suburban shows station names, but it did revert to the numbers one time. It was like that for about a week. Then all of a sudden the names were back. I asked her if she was playing the the settings or anything, and she said no. I asked my 13 year old if he changed anything to play a joke on his mom, and he said no.

I am driving a 2015 loaner because mine is in with transmission trouble. The loaner has XM still going and it displays the station name not the number. I don't see this as a setting. Have you tried removing one and re-adding it as a favorite?

Unfortunately I've tried it all, including restoring the stereo to factory settings, having XM re-send the signal to my truck, nothing.

I was told in another thread that it's a hardware/software issue in the 14's that was dealt with in the 15's. And of course, the 15''s software isn't backwards compatible even though the everything looks identical...

So frustrating, a $60,000 vehicle and GM just says "whoops, we had the tech before and it resides on every othe GM vehicle in our lineup, but get over it and just memorize the 100+ XM stations!"...

I don't even use the favorites to change channels anymore, I use the voice commands.

"Command Please" "XM - The Highway" and voila!

My voice commands on my '14 really stink. Some of the time it doesn't even recognize that I am talking or it doesn't get it right and I try to speak very clear. It is frustration. I hope at some point there is an update to fix it but I have a feeling that we will never see one.

I tried using voice commands for the first few days of ownership, but haven't tried it since. It's more hassle than it's worth.

I just had the Onstar upgrade done and there was a new OS version for the radio.

I haven't played witht the radio to much yet to see if it fixed any of the bugs I still had. IE black screen after I unhook my trailer.

I had been reading this thread before purchasing my 2015 Silverado LTZ, and I have to say I was really concerned I was going to hate this system after reading about all of the problems people detailed here. Well, I gotta say, I am really glad I didn't let this thread sway my decision to buy this truck - I absolutely love it. I have the 8" MyLink with Nav and the bose speakers and I think this system is top notch so far. I am a techie and having a system that worked well and did things the way I wanted it to was important to me, and so far I am very happy with how this system works.

I am currently using the system with two different iPhones (a 4s for personal and a 6 for work) so I have been able to test everything out with both. I have only noticed one "quirk" so far that I haven't quite figured out yet, which is when the iPhone 6 is plugged into with the USB to Lightning connector cable to the USB ports in the armrest console, I cannot get Spotify to play through the stereo. It works flawlessly over Bluetooth, just won't play spotify. The Pandora app does work with the iPhone 6 when it's plugged in however. When I plug in the iPhone 4 to the same USB, I can play spotify over the stereo just like I can via Bluetooth. It's weird, but it's not the end of the world - for now, I'll just use bluetooth on the other phone if I have to charge the iPhone 6. I am a spotify premium member so that will be my primary means of listening to music in my truck.

As far as system responsiveness goes, I find the system to be very responsive. The only time I see a lag, is when the vehicle has just turned on and the stereo is booting up. But it's usually only a few seconds. The lags is a little worse if you had a navigation route running when you last shut off the vehicle, as when you turn the truck back on it immediately is trying to reload the route and get you back on your way.

One of my absolute favorite features is that if I am listening to spotify on my phone over bluetooth, and then stop at a door and shut off the truck, the phone automatically reconnects, reloads spotify and begins playing where it left off. That is top notch in my book for Bluetooth integration.

I also really like that you can simply switch which device is connected via bluetooth via the stereo. In my last vehicle, if I needed to switch over to my work phone to take a call handsfree while driving, I would have to disable bluetooth on one phone so that the other would connect and it was a major PITA.

Bottom line from my perspective is that this is a really well integrated stereo and has some very nice features. I am loving it. I'm a little disappointed the map updates are so expensive, but like others said, maybe I'll just skip a few and only upgrade it every couple of years. I always have my google maps on my phone/bluetooth for nav if I need it, but this is my first vehicle with Nav and I am really liking the integration.

IDK it took me all of 10 min to this while I was sitting in traffic one day :nopity:

My 2014 built in Oct 2013 had no lag until the dealer updated the software to cure an issue with an occasional blank screen at startup. They must have introduced corrupt software because lots of issues including slow response began almost immediately. Dealer installed a patch but no change. Then no updates available based on my version of software. This got worse over time and the only thing that helped was when the dealer did a reset of the entire system. Don't recall the term they used but might have been "global reset". But with use the issues returned and no solutions offered by GM. The more I used the functions, worse things got. Affected BT phone, iPod, Nav and response times. I could write a book about the gremlins.

This was one of two issues that resulted in my getting a replacement vehicle.

So I agree that the slow response is probably a software conflict.

I hate the unit in my truck as well but I am assured by GM that it is the latest and greatest. I told them it might be the latest but it is far from the greatest. If you claimed it was a tad better than a super nintendo, and the mapping developed in the 90's I would completely agree. It sounds great and thats about all the compliments it deserves. Save the headaches and hours of phone calls/complaints and buy a garmin or tom-tom. At least if that doesn't work it can be exchanged or replaced at a fraction of the cost.
