Have you noticed it you go to gm website to build a 1500 the mylink with navi is 795 but if you build a 2500 it's only 495? It's the same IO6 system.

Mine has actually gotten a bit quicker, not only to pick up stations on start up, but switching stations and even getting the 64GB Class 10 SD Card ready to play... much better experience. Before I get a bunch of questions, I don't know why this has happened. I'll chalk it up to magic. :)

I have a 2014 Sierra SLT with the navigation Intellilink System. I had a 2008 Sierra SLT with low miles with no real need to buy a new truck but I work in IT and the new intellilink system lured me in. Not having a backup camera or navigation in my 2008 helped peak my interest in Intellilink. In general I really like it but there are a few thinks that I have been disappointed with.

The manual says that pictures and videos are supposed to be recognized by the system for playback. I have tried multiple formats of videos and pictures but nothing works.

The manual says that you can gain internet access through a smartphone. When following the instructions the options on the screen are simply not there, at least not in my truck. Internet access would be great if/when apps become available and could perhaps make software updating easy. Which reminds me, where are the apps!?!?!?

The biggest irritation to me is that there seems to be no way to update the software without going to the dealer. As a technologist, I like to have the latest available software. I really do not want to have to constantly check with the dealer to find out if there is a new update and if there is, take the time to go by and have it updated. We should be able to do this ourselves. I guess GM is protecting us for ourselves should something go wrong with the update then they have to clean up our mess. But don't underestimate your customers GM, most folks are very computer literate these days and with an easy interface an update should be no big deal. I have no way of knowing if my software is up to date, a revision old, or more. And if there are newer software versions or updates, what did they fix or add? A website or email notification system to keep us up to date on this would be great.

In general, I'm happy with the system but there are some things that seem to leave us hanging as mentioned above. But, there's always a price to pay for being an early adopter. We're pretty much beta testers. I just hope that the system was developed such that when new features are introduced and bugs are fixed we are able to enjoy them with software patches and updates rather than having to live with them or purchase a new vehicle. Fingers crossed!!!!

OMG quite complaining, the my link is not going to be as fast as the newest smartphones or PC's......... Be thankful you have what you have because there are worse systems in other vehicles.

Seriously?

So no new updates or fixes huh. Same as the radio reception, just hanging in the balance waiting to be addressed..

I'm a software developer and this 2013/2014 intellilink/mylink is a joke in the development community. Visit https://developer.gm.com/ see for yourself the issues. The API is different from the 2014 to 2015 version and the emulator doesn't even work for people trying to create app's.

Working around a problem isn't a solution. Putting your mp3's on a SD card because bluetooth doesn't work properly isn't the answer. We'd never evolve technology if we worked that way.

Help us help you GM by giving us the tools to develop for you like Apple and Google does. This Intellilink is a huge step up from previous generations, but give us some tools to make it better.

It's nice to play off an IPhone or android. That way you only have to maintain one device with content and play lists.

I use a Galaxy Note3 and connect via bluettoth. I use google play and it works fantastic.

PS. You will need a phone if you want to use the Pandora Functionality.

My only issue so far is my Note3 plays and when the song changes it mutes the sound. If I pause and then play again it works until the next track. Maybe it's because I'm using PowerAmp, I'll try google play today instead.

I use Google play and I do not have that issue.

Been using a flash drive after I had issues with it. Tried it today with PowerAmp and zero issues, but I hate my alerts stopping the music. I'm going to just get a large flash drive and use that instead.

Has anyone noticed that if you scroll through the favorites with the steering wheel control, the menu on the screen doesn't follow as you progress? On my 2011 the 5 stations would show on the screen until you went to the 6th station then the next 5 show up on the screen. Am I doing this wrong because this is a big oversight if the next group of favorites don't automatically show up on the screen as you scroll through them on the steering wheel.

This is on my 2015 Silverado HD LTZ with Nav

Also from what I can tell, to even scroll the channels you need to 1st hit the button on the steering wheel to pull up the favorites menu, then hit it again to change the channel...If you pause for a second you have to do this again..very slow and frustrating, hope there is a better way to scroll through favorites..I've been hitting the buttons on the back left side of the steering wheel.

Yes that is unfortunately what you have to do. Hit the up or down button 2 times on the steering wheel or press the preset button on the mylink screen to change stations.

    • I’m definitely interested to hear the end result here.
    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
    • Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. Years later, your thread is still helping Silverado owners.   I bought my 2025 Silverado 1500 in January 2025, and I've had what feels like the exact same rattle since day one. After reading your findings, I believe my truck has the same issue with the cable carrier contacting the rear sliding window. To be honest, I had pretty much given up on pursuing the issue. It wasn't until I recently drove another brand's pickup that I realized just how quiet their cabin was—and how noisy mine has been all along. On my truck, the rattle happens on almost any paved road, gets even worse on rougher pavement, and I can even hear it during braking and acceleration.   I actually referenced your thread when submitting my case to GM, hoping they'll recognize this as a recurring issue instead of treating it as an isolated incident. The reason I reached out to GM first is because my dealership told me they would need to keep the truck for at least two days just to diagnose the problem. I was concerned that even after two days, they still might not be able to identify the source of the rattle before giving the truck back to me. I had also asked a few dealerships about this issue during previous service visits, but none of them seemed to know what was causing it or had a solution. That's why I decided to contact GM directly first, hoping they might already have an official repair procedure or guidance for this issue.   I also hope GM eventually comes up with an official fix for this problem. I have a feeling there are many Silverado owners experiencing the same rattle, but most either choose to live with it or simply don't know what the cause is.   Really appreciate you taking the time to document your diagnosis. Your post is still making a difference years later.
