Mylink = my disappointment

Yes that is unfortunately what you have to do. Hit the up or down button 2 times on the steering wheel or press the preset button on the mylink screen to change stations.

This drives me crazy. I just want one touch station changing on the steering wheel. By the time you've realized you don't like the song it backs out of the menu. And "swiping" on the screen to look for stations isn't an option cuz I'll get in an accident trying to make that work. I know, quit complaining, right?! :)

I have 2015 3500 with all the goodies. Love it. One problem--won't play Audible books without shuffling between chapters. Very annoying. Any suggestions?

I traded a 2007 gmc 2500 and a 2009 chevy 1500 for my 2014 chevy 1500 dbl. cab.

I have had my truck for 2 weeks now and still trying to get my link repaired, The screen comes on first thing in the morning, But after a couple of minuets the screen goes dark and never comes back up. Have had the truck at the dealership 3 times to repair,But to no avail. Waiting now for a new part to come in for it.... I wish they would have used the same os that is in the 2014 Camaro, I have that one and love the mylink.

There is a company called "Soundman ca (California)" that will install an iPad in your dash (if your not capable yourself. All you do is mail them your stereo dash pieces and they'll send it back ready to rock. Or you just buy the kit and do it yourself. http://www.soundmanca.com

I just bought a 2014 sierra and today after putting 5000 miles on it, the 8" screen blacked out. I've read about the dealer updates. Has anyone had this issue fixed/updated and if so, has it worked? I'm almost already regretting my purchase. Without the screen - no backup camera either. Help!

For $159 for an annual update, I can buy a Garmin with lifetime updates. My disappointment is spending so much for the intellilink system and the mapping has been wrong over 60% of the time and NOW they want me to upgrade for $159? They should offer free updates for the price of the system!

Just a little fyi for those that have mylink but don't have nav, you actually do have nav. As long as you have a smart phone with the onstar link app installed on your phone, the mylink and the app start to talk to one another and you can now have route guidance (turn by turn navi) with audio and visual. I think it uses the gps built into your phone which is pretty clever if you ask me. I used it today for the first time and it worked just like any other nav I've used. As far as the system being slow, your just going to have to wait for a software update and then GM will do it for free.

Mine did that until I renewed it, just with the basic one where there's no OnStar nav. Now on the nav part of the app it says I have to upgrade. Even then the OnStar nav is as basic as it can get so it's no real help, that is if it found where you're going to. I just prefer Google Maps on my phone. Mine's also without factory nav, just had OnStar nav until the free 6 month subscription was up.

Interesting article to read (for purely info only as it is about the replacement for the F**D MyTouch). Again, this is an article about another brand of truck!!) This is simply to let you see that another brand has scrapped their present s/w and screen for another company's. Not hyping F**D - just showing changes can be made to these systems.

Well I can honestly say that the mylink nav when used with your phone is painless and fast. I had nothing to complain about while using it today and was actually really happy when I figured out that my non nav mylink did infact have nav now.

How did you get your phones Nav to work through my link? I can get it to play back through it but not using any of the radio/media controls except volume and definitely won't display.

I've searched all over the forum but I can't seem to find an answer to a specific question. Has anyone been able to display contact pictures in Intellilink using an iPhone? Everything else is working for me but no matter what I try I cannot get the contact pictures to display. Has anybody had any luck?

Thanks!

I have been wondering the same thing..

I do wish I could save my current location. Moreso, I wish it would display the current road and the next street. Sometimes, depending on zoom level and how many streets are on the map, it'll show the name of streets nearby but it would be nice to have a dedicated "next road" feature so if you're looking for Stackhouse Drive, you'll know it's next.

I can tell you - with regards to the speed, touch sensitivity and switching stations with the steering wheel... my 2015 Tahoe has those issues but the 2015 Silverado doesn't. Perhaps the Tahoe is a first half of the year build and the Silverado is a 2nd half build. I'm not sure, but the software and sensitivity are certainly different experiences. I also notice they don't share all the same features - like the Silverado can't change the theme but the Tahoe can. Just small things.

My Silverado can change theme for the display.. It gives me 4 different themes to chose from..

    • Follows the motif on the Sierra EV.  Satin finsh to the lower bumper area, painted above:   Elevation       Denali

    • Whoever greenlighted the work truck matte black front bumpers on every trim but the AT4X should be fired!  I was hoping that was an AI mistake, but just realized they were on every model of the 2027 Silverado too.     Some parts of the interior do look premium, but the Denali Ultimate dashboard looks like an afterthought.  At least they appear to have lost the microfiber the high end Silverado models showed, but the '27 High Country dash looks better than the Denali.
    • New member here. I am researching a read-first event-recorder concept for late-model GM V8 trucks. This is not a sales post. There is no product link, price, preorder, or mailing list. I am trying to determine whether the underlying problem is real before building anything.   Has your truck ever had a brief problem such as: - rough running or a momentary misfire - an oil-pressure warning or unusual pressure event - reduced power or a brief stall - a U-code or lost-communication problem - a symptom that disappeared before the dealer or independent shop could reproduce it   If so, I would appreciate the following details: - year, model, engine, and mileage - what happened and under what conditions - whether a DTC and useful freeze-frame data were stored - whether the shop was able to reproduce it - what the eventual confirmed repair was, if known - what additional information would have helped the diagnosis   The concept being evaluated is a removable leave-in recorder that continuously retains a rolling window from before and after an event. It would not tune, reflash, clear codes, or change the vehicle calibration.   I am also not claiming that it could predict lifter failure or see every internal ECM variable.   The real question is whether continuous event history would add enough useful evidence beyond freeze frame, GDS2, and existing scan tools — or whether it would simply be another unnecessary gadget.   For owners and technicians, which problem would make something like this genuinely useful: 1. intermittent misfire or AFM/DFM-related behavior 2. oil-pressure events 3. lost communication or electrical faults 4. none of the above Please be blunt. Negative feedback is just as useful as positive feedback.
    • No tears over the SLE and SLT trim levels disappearing but I kind of loathe the "Elevation" name. It's a truck--skip the elegance.   The slab-dashboard design is decidedly different. Almost has a Hummer flavor to it. "Professional Grade" seems to be leaning very white-collar, tech-driven these days moreso than blue-collar, functional design.   The Silverado would be my choice between the two new trucks. Pleased with the engine lineup in both. The GMC is a little "too much" for a truck, IMO, and the Denali borders on ridiculous - but I do know there are buyers for luxury trucks out there. It's just not my speed.
