Mylink = my disappointment

I'm guessing that 1TB hard drive is killing your system... I would try putting your music on 1 SD just big enough to hold it all..no bigger.... assuming you don't have millions of songs.

The same lag persists with or without the hard drive. It is definitely not the cause. Switching stations, or radio/Xm/cd/hd/phone takes a long time.

Radio reception is the pits as well, both Xm and am/fm, but that's a whole another topic!

You guys are way more into ipods/sd cards etc than I am, I just do not like the lag when you punch any of the touchscreen buttons. Typically I can count to 3 or 4 before it does anything. I wonder if there is a way to adjust the response time? I would be pretty happy if there is a way to speed it up. I did not read through this entire thread hopefully I did not miss an answer?? You guys are talking about a lot of other stuff but my issue is the basic response time for the basic features. My build date is 12-11-13

I received the following email today. It sounds like new apps from 3rd parties (approved by GM) are a work in progress.

Quick question:

On a 32GB USB with music: I had to get in the habit of unplugging it when I was done driving because (sometimes) mylink wouldn't recognize it, and I had to unplug it then plug it back in. I was told by the tech guru's that's because I didn't unplug it and it wasn't intended to stay plugged in. Seemed to be reasonable to me, and it worked OK doing that.

On a 32GB SD Card with music: I just transferred everything over to a 32GB SD card, and plugged that in. I guess I'll find out within a few days whether that acts the same (not being recognized) as the USB. Anybody got any experience with SD cards and do you have any problems when you leave it plugged in?

BTW, I have about 28GBs of music on the SD card, so it's pretty full, and I noticed it took quite a bit of time for the system to load all of those songs. Hopefully that won't happen every time.

I have a 64GB sd card with 50GB of music that I leave it plugged in all the time. It takes a little while the first time to read everything thing but after that it's fine. It will start right up ever time after......at least so far it has.

Thanks! Hoping it works for me as well.

I can't get videos to show up on the SD card even in mp4 format, any codec or anything special about your guys movies before putting them on the card?

My 64 GB SD works perfect for music as well. It's a little slow, scolling through artists. I can live with that though, seeing as there are about 8000 songs on it.

It's working great. Picked up right at the spot where it was shut down and artists were there pretty quickly. Nice! I will say it's a little slow transferring songs from my computer TO the SD card. But hey, I'm retired!

The one thing that confuses me is organizational structure. I know it pulls meta data from mp3/m4a files for genre/artist/album/album art but....

Playlists is an available icon on the SD card music screen, but how do you make playlists show up there? Do you create a folder on the root of the SD called "Playlists" and put sub folders in there?

Do you organize movies in any special folder to make them populate?

Mine is a smooth as I would expect from a touch screen. Not lightening fast but acceptable, and from what you describe.... A hell of a lot faster than yours.

This seems like one of those instances where you could get the runaround. I hope it all gets taken care of though, without issue.

I hate to do this, but...

I have noticed the SAME issues with mine. There is quite a bit of lag with

the Mylink system when switching apps and when switching radio stations as

well. And to be honest, I agree with your feelings. This is a $50,000 truck. I

expect, $50,000 quality right down to the changing of the radio station.

I too am disappointed in the navigation system as well. But being a GM fan

boy and coming from a GM family, I NEVER expect much when I purchased the truck

with navigation. Navigation integrated into GM vehicles as always struck me as primitive.

Before I reach out to the dealership and have the software re-loaded, I'd

like to read that another person on his board has done this and seen success.

Agreed. GMC family, but not quite happy.

I bought a texas editoin sle w/o navigation. My fault. It does seem like there should be a way to run better software on the mylink though

If I drop 48k on a truck why can't I upload opensource map files like my garmin 705 bicycle gps, or googlemaps on the screen? Why do I have to spend 1400 on a new unit to get navi?

Thanks for the info that a 64GB card will work. I couldn't find any info in the manual or otherwise. I called the Infotainment help number and they told me 32GB.
