My Silverado can change theme for the display.. It gives me 4 different themes to chose from..

This convinces me even more that they must have changed something mid-year since mine doesn't even have the option.

My truck was built in Aug or Sept 2014 can't remember which one.. So I would say mine was in the second wave of trucks being built..

From reading around the site, I believe only the Sierras have the ability to change themes.

So were there ever any resolutions to any of these problems? I read this entire thread (all 14 pages) and am disappointed to see such little to go on. Can anyone point me to a better thread if there is one?

Today my stereo decided to go "black". I was at lunch and it just wouldn't come back on. I restarted the truck several times. People sitting at the restaurant on the patio must have thought I was crazy?

Anyways, this past weekend (over 4th of July) I was in Houston and my buddy was like "put it on this radio station!! 92.1!!". I have never used radio in this truck but I thought it shouldnt be a problem.....WRONG!!!!

So somehow the radio menu decided to stick around on all the menus. I normally use USB sticks for all my music because this MyLink is total GARBAGE. This is by far the worst software I have ever seen. I write software for a living (over 14 years now) and have seen my fair share of crappy software. I believe MyLink takes the cake!! Chevrolet should be ASHAMED they released this buggy crap. It is a real nuisance and nightmare for users. Even the dealership had no idea how to operate this thing. I cant believe this is a feature people pay for??? I had no idea, I thought it just came with my truck.

So the radio menu has a bunch of buttons to save "preset" stations and this "preset" menu was overlaying on all my other menus. Look like a giant blob of crap on the screen, you cannot read anything!! My friend was laughing at my truck. (He owns a mercedes, doesnt even have a rear camera!!). Anyways, i drove around all weekend with overlaying menus. Very annoying. You couldnt press anything correctly. So we just listened to radio all weekend. Fine.

So before I head home to Austin (July 5th), I decided to "reset my factory settings" to hopefully restore the MyLink menu. That seemed to fix the problem just fine. I drove home (over 2 hours) and could use my menu, as expected from a $50k truck.

BTW, my MyLink does lag a little but not nearly as bad as some of you have described (I dont use iPod though, strickly USB sticks). I purchased my truck in September 2014 (??). So I believe mine has the updated software already. I remember the salesman talking about that software update (briefly). I hope my problems can be fixed from a new software update. It's really dumb I have to drive 50 miles to my dealership to get that though. I mean, INCREDIBLY DUMB!! Do you know how many OnStar emails I get, a month? Do you know how many times OnStar calls my truck, even though I have no OnStar subscription? Do you know how many times the service reps call me to see if they did a good job? ITS OUTRAGEOUS!! You mean to tell me, Chevrolet cannot upgrade software remotely, but they can call me remotely, send me messages remotely and even send me all kinds of sales pitches and sales communication just so they can extend my wallet to theirs? CHEVROLET YOU SHOULD BE EMBARASSED. Stop selling me crap and get the crap you ALREADY sold me to work!!

I have three USB sticks in my truck. They are all rather large in size (64GB+). My friend with the Benz gave me a bunch of Mp3s, so I am hoping that's the cause. I hope I have too many MP3s on my USB sticks for this silly system to work. (I just read about that in this thread, there is a 4000 song limit??? Yeah, thank you to the guy who posted that. You are NOT a troll, like people were accusing you of, you actually have alot of the same problems I have, a year later).

So today (July 6th) at lunch, my stereo went black. It still played music, but I couldnt change songs or control volume. I couldnt use my rear camera. My steering wheel controls allowed me to change volume and songs, but I cannot change USB sticks. I cannot turn on radio. I cannot really do anything with a big black screen in my dash.

This truck has 11,000 miles and has been the biggest POS I've ever owned. Made in Mexico? You can definitely tell it. My last Chevrolet (Tahoe 2001) had 360,000 miles when I buried it at the dealership and bought this giant piece of software junk.

I am really hoping my problem is that I have too many MP3s on my USB. It seems like USB can cripple this system pretty easily. Overall the truck is nice but I cannot use this hands free business or even navigate my music. What a pain in the neck. My buddy has a Toyota and it just looks better and better as the days go by. I miss my Tahoe as I didn't have any issues playing USB in my aftermarket stereo. All i want is music. I dont want XM radio, I dont wanna pay for OnStar, I dont want any of this junk you call a truck!!

If anyone has any advice on how to FIX this software in MyLink, please speak up. Thank you.

P.S. I find this to be very dangerous. This truck is dangerous because you cant simply turn on the radio, you have to be a software genius. I wonder how many people have died fiddling with this garbage software?? This truck requires so much attention with your hands just to be "hands free". It seems that this truck REQUIRES my hands on its stupid radio all the time. Very annoying. Voice commands never work, I mean, NEVER. I gave up on voice commands the very first day I owned this "truck". I think Im gonna sell this soon because this is not the first problem I've had them fix.

I just got mine 5 days ago and even though Mylink isn't as intuitive and some other systems I've used it's been ok to deal with.

The radio is always on whatever I have it set at when I start it. If I want the radio I push the radio button. If I want the Galaxy or iPad I push the media button. The voice commands work better than in my Ram but neither is 100%. I don't think there's any 100% success rate voice command system in any vehicle. The phone and other features I used don't seem any better or worse than any other truck I've owned and I go through a lot them.

Based on what you're saying the 2015's must have had a lot of improvements the 2014's were lacking.

I haven't needed to own a truck in almost 14 years. My previous Chevy Tahoe ran 360,000 miles on the original motor. About 260,000 on the original transmission!! I did all work on it myself from 100,000 miles and onward, after the warranty expired. I knew the vehicle inside and out. (FYI, My grandfather was a Ford Dealer in South Texas for 40+ years. I am the first in my family to own a Chevrolet).

This 2014 Silverado is a piece of crap. The only good thing is the gas mileage and Bose speakers (when the stereo decides to work, which is 98% of the time).

I really dont use radio, as my favorite radio stations have iPhone apps. I use those. I use bluetooth alot in my truck with no problem. (KOKEFM app, Triple J Australian app, Spotify, etc)

The voice commands have NEVER worked. Even my dad tried them and was like "F THIS!!". For as much as you pay for a HIGH COUNTRY SILVERADO, you'd think these "features" would actually be helpful. They're not.

I find the buttons to be too much. There are way too many buttons (even duplicate buttons?), way too many menus and it wants to cram XM radio down my throat any chance it gets. I hate XM radio, will never use XM radio and dont care to get their mail advertisements they send me of their great "offers", either. I don't believe in music subscriptions as there is plenty of great free music out there. I'd rather listen to NPR or public access channels via Bluetooh. I find it pretty annoying to receive all this spam for this "TRUCK". I have to opt out of so much crap, it's just mind boggling.

I also think I could have avoided resetting my factory settings if I had seen this Youtube video beforehand:

That awful grid of buttons is what was overlapping and overlaying all over ALL the stereo menus. Imagine that thing not going away, at all, during the entire 4th of July weekend. it's not very intuitive to have to drag that thing around. I have developed and built software for 14 years now. MyLink is crap and it really makes me think about selling this truck.

I can't change it on my 14 Sierra AT
