Hey Poltergeist,

If you get a minute could you check your iPod Firmware? Just wondering what you're running compared to mine.

Thanks

My drive is a 2 TB Western Digital Passport 3.0 drive. I stuck the drive in the little front pocket under the lid of the center console and that's where I plugged it in. Didn't have to do anything fancy to make it work. Just made sure that I named the drive something meaningful like GMCdrive. I run music and movies of the drive.

I formatted my SD card to NTFS and it was recognized! Thank you seatec! I had read all over that that format is incompaitble!

Give me a few minutes I'm fixing to go out to my truck I will post the name brand and the size. Did figure out that not all mp3s will play. I downloaded a music converter from download.com it is called free audio converter. From freestudio. Got it from download. Com. Changed all mp3s to wav. High quality 48 khz stereo. Its all in the program prity easy to use. Works great. I had several mp3 songs that I downloaded that wouldn't play. Converted them all to wav and all my music plays.

Some mp3's don't play because of a naming convention. Wav will work but it also blows the file up 10 times the size. No biggy really with the size of the drives these days.

Yeah I have a feeling all my purchased from iTunes music wont work.. I'll have to do the converting later. That will take me an eternity to figure out which ones work and which ones don't. I have LOTS of music. Out of curiosity, how many songs did you convert? How long did it take? Id like to just copy and convert all mine, but it would probably crash the computer lol. 8000 songs. I've ripped alll the CD's i've bougtht over the years

cant you just rename all the iTunes songs to .mp3? The ones with DRM wont work without iTunes of course.

Yeah Ive had to convert itunes music before, to play on non apple devices. I'll mess around with it one of these days. At least I got this SD card working.

SD is the way to go... so much cleaner. I just update both the card and phone every month or so when I get new music. But it's not a big deal keeping my phone music update.. I only listen to the music on my phone when I'm at the airport and flying...which is rare these days.

I agree it's a brilliant idea. I couldnt believe it when I saw there was one. Its all the little things like that that make me love the truck even more

I converted 800 songs with it took me a couple of hours. Have no idea about 8000 songs. It might take a while thats a lot good luck

In iTunes you can convert the songs to MP3. I always do, it strips the DRM.

Under preferences, make sure your cd import settings are set to MP3. Then right click any song and convert it.
