Seriously? I don't believe I ever said I expect it to be that fast. I do expect it to be USEABLE, and have basic nav functions that my 5 year old Garmin has. Also, it should NOT take 5-10 seconds to change songs... Inexcusable for a 50 thousand dollar truck.

Inexcusable? Maybe so, but GM is getting away with it! Just like they keep getting away with horrible quality polished clear coated wheels that corrode while the trucks are still on the dealer's lot here in Florida.

I too have corroded wheels where the factory wheel weights were. Pisses me off.

If you hold the power button in for like 2 seconds it does shut off. Simply pressing the power button only mutes it..

While I was originally excited to learn about this feature, good ole GM yet again proved they did a piss poor job programming/testing Intellilink.

Even turning off the radio power still does not pause the music!!! How retarded is that!!!

 

I really hope some company out there eventually comes out with a hack for this system.

I've had the exact same issues with mine mylink system. Really disappointed with the system and don't know why they won't just pay garmin to integrate their software. Much better and not as cumbersome. Anyone know if it has an input in the back of the unit I can plug a DVD or other device into?

Has ANYONE had their Mylink software reinstalled by the dealer and gotten improved results? I'm waiting to take mine in, just been too busy with work lately... but would be nice to hear if this has helped anyone. Since only some people are experiencing these issues (not all), I'm certainly hopeful it will work... just strange we haven't heard of anyone yet.

Mine seems to be better after the BCM update, but that might be coincidental.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having a problem with 2014 MyLink. After all, misery loves company, right? We had a 2013 Equinox that we loved. One of the best features was the MyLink system because it played our audiobooks flawlessly! (This is surprisingly rare in car audio for some reason.) Well, we needed more hauling capacity so my wife and I just bought a 2014 Silverado 1500. MyLink? Check. USB ports? Check. Ooh, even an SD card slot, cool. It NEVER occurred to us that the new MyLink would be such a piece of scatalogical disappointment.

 

We listen to audibooks almost exclusively. The problem is: YOU CAN'T TURN THEM OFF! Yes, I know pushing the power button briefly mutes the system (Which is stupid! Why not have it PAUSE the playback?) But if we turn the radio OFF (Push button until screen changes) the books still play in the background. No sound, but time is still elapsing. Now, this is a USB thumb drive, not an iPod, MP3 player or other device with a mind of its own, just a basic memory stick.

 

I've been back and forth with GM and they keep telling me "It's because it's a new system." Excuse me? It worked fine in our Equinox. Besides, none of this is new technology. That's like saying FM radio won't work in a different car until you "get the wrinkles ironed out".

 

The dealership has been great but limited in what they can do. Our salesman has been working with our service rep but we're all waiting for GM to get their thumb out of their armpit and FIX the problem.

 

The big problem is that the truck is so new we can't even go aftermarket as a fix yet.

 

And, oh yeah, the CD PLAYER WON'T STOP EITHER!!!

 

We loved our Equinox, I wish GM had just put that system in the new cars.

 

Just for perspective: We went back to the dealer thinking we might have a bad stereo--it happens occasionally--and tried our audiobooks in another Silverado and it had the same problems as ours. Our salesman suggested we try an Impala and IT didn't work right! Then we got in a 2014 Equinox and IT PLAYED FINE!!!

 

GM: We raved about our Equinox, be assured we're going to warn people away from the Silverados. After all, if you can't get the stereo right, what else have you messed up on?

The Mylink in my Cruze works great! I find it kind of useless though since it doesn't have Navigation. I could do everything on it the same as a regular radio, and I can't really customize anything on it either. Nicest thing about it is the screen for my reverse camera.

Has anyone found a resolution to the NAV slow to refresh issues. Some mornings it takes up to 5 minutes for the traffic to update on my screen all while the XM radio is playing.

Two suggestions:

 

Pause the playback.

 

Press and hold the power button, which supposedly turns everything off as opposed to simply muting.

Just to let you know that you can play videos on the my link. You have to convert the video to mp4 put it on an sd card. There is a video setting on your system. Touch video highlight the video you want to watch. And it plays. If you start driving it will switch to audio only. Kinda nice having a couple of movies when your wife is in the store and you don't want to go in. Or anytime your waiting in your truck. Just thought I would let you guy's know. 2014 chevy Silverado Z71 4x4 5.3 love this truck.

On mine, if I am listening to a USB song and switch to radio or Sirius, when I go back to USB the song resumes from the same spot. Same happens when I turn off the truck and restart - same spot on the USB. Is this not what's happening with yours or have I misunderstood your issue?

It doesn't.

 

On mine, if I am listening to a USB song and switch to radio or Sirius, when I go back to USB the song resumes from the same spot. Same happens when I turn off the truck and restart - same spot on the USB. Is this not what's happening with yours or have I misunderstood your issue?

Let me give you an example to explain:

You're driving, with nav map displayed, and you need to quickly silence the audio to talk to someone in or outside the vehicle.

If you hit the mute on steering wheel, it mutes.

If you hit the power button in knob, it mutes.

If you press & hold power button, radio seems to turn off & display clock.

The problem is in all three of these situations the music never actually stops! If you have 5 min convo, when you go back to listening, the song will be 5 mins ahead or likely at the next song on CD/flash drive.

The only true way to pause is to switch back to the audio screen & use the touch screen pause button.

 

It's crazy annoying b/c the GMT-800 & GMT-900 radios would actually turn off / stop the music when you tapped the power button and now the new K2's won't! If it's only going to mute, the icon should be the same as steering wheel mute button & not the power icon. IMO, it's a programming over site by the designers of Intellilink and should be fixed if they ever get around to an update!

      2 speed transfer case optional now?

      This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
