It will be a Turd with dual 3" dual pipes, you would be better off with a single 3" and Y-pipe and good headers and pacesetters are not good headers. Kooks or ARH's are top notch products.

What do you mean exactly in saying "it will be a turd with dual 3" pipes"?

I was looking into true duals as well, but does it kill performance to remove that 3rd cat and run two pipes? I would think that would help.

If you run to big of a pipe you will lose a lot of power down low. I made that mistake on my 1992 silverado. I was young and didn't know any better but I put hooker headers on it and true duals with 3" pipe to flowmaster 40's. It lost a ton of get up and go. Had the pipes replaced with 2.5" and it fixed that problem. Got to love those old throttle body trucks!

The stainless works exhausts are true duals with X pipes thats why i was asking....

I just added a Flowmaster 50 HD series muffler and it sounds pretty good. I thought I wanted the 40 series, but the owner of the shop stated people were coming back complaining about the drone. The 50 series does have some drone, but not too noticeable. I also added a CAI for some sound when my foot is heavy.

I have the 40. I really like the sound from it. There is a tiny drone spot, when accellerating and through the 5th, but it's not bad. However, if you have AFM still enabled, it sounds like a helicoptor is landing on the bed at low speeds when in 4cyl mode (20-30mph)

How it the sound with the 50 series when in V4? I had a 50 on my 2002 with the 4.8 and loved the sound and would like to have that same sound with my 2014.

Yes, like a helicopter. I may just disable the AFM, thanks.

It's not loud, but you can hear it. Of course being my truck, I notice it when no one else does. That is a plus though.

These new trucks are so quiet & block out so much road noise that I just left this one stock....my old sierra ran flowmasters being it was loud anyway

To be honest that is what bugs me the most about my truck. That is why I'm looking for something to make beautiful V8 music with.

Hey guys,

I'm looking to experiment with some exhaust ideas. Does anybody around the DFW area have a stock 6.2 exhaust that they have pulled off and are looking to get out of the garage?

Thanks,

Wes

Any cab/bed configuration works.

The big Eco Tec with Magnafow has more of a low rumble compared to a Vortec 4.8 . I floored it on a county road and it revved up great especially with Airaid installed, lighter weight 2012 Reg. Cab with 4.8 Vortec had more of a high revving tone .

Well 3 days later of reading this entire thread off and on, I've came up with my solution!

Magnaflow 14"

Remove flapper

Remove resonator

Just can't decide if I want it before the rear wheel, or after. A lot louder before the wheel I'd imagine?

Good call. You'll enjoy it. That's what I have. I personally think if it was dumped before the axle it would be too loud. I have mine exiting behind the rear wheel like it is from the factory and I think it's perfect
