Lots of guys run MBRP here and I have had other systems that didn't get this bad this quick. Why this one is so awful I could not tell you... hell the stock exhaust is supposedly only T409 as well and they don't rot like this junk did. My stock exhaust on this truck was pretty damn rusty though and I took it off when I got the the truck home brand new from the dealer... typical GM quality lol. This is my second fail from MBRP actually as one system I had on a 6.2 F150 was junk too... Bought the nearly as expensive as real stainless powder coated black option... Yep... that lasted about 3 months and was mostly bare steel. Just junk. Something sad though... Flo Pro is just aluminized steel... nothing stainless... and I have one of their big ovals on my 05 1500HD. Well after probably 5 winters now it's still mint... not rotten... still mostly clean metal. Doesn't say a lot for this garbage.

Yes, I sent them an email right before I posted this.

You don't have extensions on your AR headers, right?

I compared the bung hole (lol) location on AR vs TS, and they look pretty similar.

No mine plugged in like stock no extension's needed for mine.

Installed my Borla ATAK today and removed my MBRP from my 2015 6.2 Silverado. The MBRP is garbage is 8 months old and looks like hell.....rusted like a 20 year old piece of junk. MBRP says just to use a little metal polish to bring it back... well maybe if I sandblasted the thing first that might work..... but there is no polishing in the world cleaning this up. They don't warrant rust either on their T409 systems and say it's "normal"..... uh huh...... Oh and even suggest you buy T304... funny... you jerkoffs don't make a T304 exhaust for my truck. Oh well... enough about scrap metal.

The ATAK fit pretty good and is the dual out model with 2 tips under the bumper. It sounds awesome on startup with a much richer tone than the MBRP ever had..... and on the throttle in the truck is good. One nice huge plus from the MBRP.... the ATAK when cruising has about as much interior noise as the stock system did..... which is great. I don't have AFM enabled and likely in the next while will rip the lifters right out of the truck and do a cam so I don't care about that aspect. The one tip does stick back further than the other but I think I can pull the passenger side out a little if I loosen it off if it really bothers me. The drivers side will not go any further back as I already tried that.

We will see how it holds up... won't be like this junk I am sure:

Is the borla atak the gm version or not? How loud is it inside the cabin. You said it's like stock, my stock on my truck is super quiet in cruise.

No. GM does not make the ATAK model nor would I want it from GM as I don't want that stupid flapper valve they put in the systems. My truck was never really any quieter than pretty well any other truck I have ever owned and is about the same as it was with the stock exhaust. There is a bit of rumble but it's nothing like how it was before. The ATAK is the loudest offering Borla has and that's what I wanted... If you want dead stock silent.... stay stock lol.

I just installed the Borla 40359 on my truck, replacing the Flowmaster Super 40.

My setup is factory manifolds and Y, Dynomax Catback with Borla 40359 in place of the Dynomax VT.

I replaced the Dynomax VT muffler with the Flowmaster Super 40 a few months back, as I didn't really like how the Dynomax VT sounded at WOT. I replaced the Flowmaster Super 40 with the Borla 40359 because I am putting headers on this weekend and wanted something that would be a tad quieter than the Flowmaster.

I think the Borla 40359 sounds great, very close to the Flowmaster Super 40, but just turned down a notch. We'll see how it sound with Headers and ORY after this weekend, might end up being too loud still, but this was my starting point.

Here are some videos if interested, Borla 40359.

@Rawyzf, can't wait to hear your truck with long tubes. I plan on getting some ARH's later this year.

Here's the setup it's going to be linked too, just waiting to get it all installed.

So I'm looking for a decent quality 3" pipe from the 3rd cat to the magnaflow muffler. Any suggestions? I obviously didn't buy a catback system.

Just any old straight piece of 3" pipe. If you buy MBRP's junk as an example it is literally a completely straight piece of pipe from the third cat to the muffler. So any old exhaust ship can hook you up. My Borla has some goofy bends in it and mounts the muffler up at an angle but whatever lol

Corsa DB Series. I'm going to cut the 3rd cat, do 3" piping all the way back split into dual 5" tips. Later on add some ARH's and a CAI. Hopefully she'll sound something like this,

Btw, do post a vid once those headers are on!

I am planning on doing a semi custom setup but definitely plan on staying stainless steel.

    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
