I know nothing about transmissions. Is it something I can do myself?

Yeah, easy to do, just pry the old one off with a flat head screw driver and tap the new one in with a rubber mallet slowly working around the edge to seat it properly.

Interesting that your driveshaft is pushed so far in. At a 7" rear drop I have about an inch and a half of shaft sticking out of the seal. :rollin:

Pulling through drive shaft out tomorrow and taking it to the best place in the area, Tuesday. Same day service if you bring it in the morning. And my output seal will be here Tuesday as well. So hopefully I'll he up and running Tuesday night

My output seal was back ordered. It shows next week so I'll be pulling the drive shaft when that shows. No use in pulling it a parts without all the parts here

So I have read this thread from the start (what a wealth of knowledge) and am really up in air with either doing a 3/5 or a 2/4 drop. The axle flip in the rear is holding me back so here are my thoughts.

My truck (well I pick it up in a few days) is a 2017 CC 4x4 Sierra, if I go ahead and do a 2" drop spindle (crown suspension) in the front will I be able to drop the rear sufficiently to have a minimal rake without a flip? From what I am reading removing the spacers and adding shackles will only end up giving me a 3.25" drop... Are there any options without getting into new springs or a flip to get a full 4" rear drop?

My mind is telling me if I do the shakles and spacers in the rear I will only want to drop the front 1" or the rake will be too intense.

Also has anyone used Crown Suspension? They seem to be the only company offering spindles for the 16/17 trucks with the new ball joints. http://www.crownsuspension.com/2007-2016-silverado/sierra-pickup/4wd

I use mcg. Your truck will be about 4" higher in the rear. Maybe 3.5. Flip kit is very easy to do. But you'd need a shackle flip to bring it up to 5.

In my opinion you.wont be happy with 4 in the rear

You are probally right. I know in the end I want a 3/5, but was thinking maybe I could get away with a 2/4 to start and progress from there. 4" rake is definetly way too much for a CC. Maybe I will just level it with shackles this year and do the 3/5 next.

Thanks!

Might as well do it now. When you wait, you start thinking and then won't do it

I went with a deluxe 2/4 from McG (spindles and flip with lift shackles). I originally wanted the 3/5, but the shop doing the install said they recommended just going with the 2/4. Now, 3 months later I've got some McG drop struts on order to bring the front down another inch. The flip with lift shackles is more like a 5" drop once the factory lift blocks got removed so now the front is a hair too high. Mostly level, but I prefer a small rake to it.

So long story short, just do want you want because you probably won't be happy with a compromise.

This I wanted 2/5 on my rc. Thought about it. Bought the kit to go 3/6. I had the 3/6 on it for a month. Then I said nope still not low enough. Went 4/7. Which I'm at now. And now I'm wanting to go 5/9
