Is it too much to expect perfection when you buy a NEW vehicle?

I'm seeing a lot of the guys on the K2 forum being ripped apart for complaining about their trucks.... I believe that they are owed a defect free truck when they buy new... am I off base here?

Perfection from something designed and built by humans? Expecting a little much. If something isn't right GM will fix it hence the reason for the warranty

Perfection doesn't exist. I would expect GM or any brand to do whatever possible to make issues right though.

Perfection no but a willingness to do what is right. This comment below makes me think GM doesn't care. However, I do have to say the comment was retracted but no answer still wasn't provided to the thread.

Hello everyone,

I understand that many forum members have questions regarding the blue backlighting around the radio control dials. I do have some information on this concern. The blue backlighting around the radio control dials is in most of the pictures that you see in advertisements that we have of the interior are now starting to show up in the latest produced trucks because they have been added as an enhancement. Please note: the other blue backlighting around 4WD and light switch have been there for all production.

I jus can't stand all the attacks on forum members..... they spent 40-50-60 grand and I think they deserve a perfect truck....

As an auto industry worker perfection is hard to come by. In my experience as the line gets older (for example our 2013 honda accord line) quality decreases... In the beginning the trim bezels had to be absolutely perfect no blemishes and no squeaks or rattles.. Now that it's ran for a full year everything's passable..

Obviously gm can only test so much. When a product finally hits the market they get the feedback and contact whoever their supplier of the specific part that's bad is and it gets corrected. I see it happen all the time when there's a new launch at my shop.

One can’t expect perfection when humans are involved but for the price GM is charging they should come close to it. In my opinion, the issue comes into play when GM won’t stand behind their product. If the issue is not safety related then it’s labeled as “Normal” or in other words just deal with it.

Reading things like this makes me see how many shitty dealers you guy's are dealing with. I can guarantee GM does stand behind their product and "just deal with it" is not something GM promotes. Perfect is not going to happen on any vehicle at any price range

You have to remember, the first year of a new model will ALWAYS have some quality issues because its the first year, and they haven't been tested in the real world by paying customers.

If i remember correctly everyone had the same gripe about the GMT 900's when they came out. Part of that 40-60K price tag is for the factory warranty you are getting with the purchase of the new truck, use it. I realize there are some real shady dealers out there that don't back up what they sell, but that is not GM's fault. Can you receive a perfect truck built by humans, no, it is impossible.

I always kind of laugh to myself when I hear people want perfection. Perfection is only close to being possible if built by robot. Then, the same folk making that statement will complain we are putting too many people out of industry jobs because of robots...

I can't figure out these people that complain about wind noise the occasional rattle or squeak.. I mean come on people it's a moving vehicle.. Unless it's bucking all over the road and falling to pieces or hell exploding on you you shouldn't be nitpicking.

I bought my Mazda 5 years ago this week. Its a daily driver. Only one trim piece ever makes any noise, and even it isn't a regular thing. My Tahoe is the quietest GM I have ever been in, period. It blows my mind how rattle free it is. My in laws have a 900 and my parents have a Trailblazer both drive me nuts to ride in by comparison because of window rattles. Cars CAN be built so well they last a long time, and have little to no NVH as they age within a reasonable amount of time.

Yea but it's like I said a moving vehicle not all are made the same it's going to make noise. mine is pretty noise free aside from the tonneau cover in the winter and the strange whistle I can't figure out.
