Did you have any luck with the DashHawk? I have one that I used on my 2008 TBSS (DD until I get the Sierra Denali next week) and my G8 GXP (traded for Sierra Denali) but have to setup a Windows XP machine to be able to program it... Do these trucks suffer from heat soak like the G8 did? I had the Vararam and the Vector heat soak kit on my G8. I know that Vector still makes heat soak kits just not sure if they work or are needed??? Thinking I will go with the Airaid on this vehicle...

LOL I haven't tried it yet! Not sure on the heat soak issue with these trucks but I haven't heard anyone speak of it yet. I'll get around to it one day as I have been curious myself.

FYI - AEM has just released their kit... a tad pricey but it is a closed system and their quality is top notch.

I just re-installed my AFE 2si with two large zip ties and the "rattle" sound under light throttle is about 85% gone.....I think she stay on longer.

It was just one of those "things" that bugged me. Sounds pretty awesome under WOT.

Installed the Airaid CAI today. It only took about an hour from hood open to washing hands. I needed to be fast to beat the Florida heat and thunderstorms.

My initial impressions... very nice. I sense that the vehicle is more responsive, the Borla exhaust even sounds louder. I am sure some of this is a placebo and some of it is from resetting the computer, but some of it really is the CAI! :) The truck is more "pouty" almost angry now unless I keep my foot in it... not going to be good for gas mileage or my wallet if my radar detector fails to alert me to our local peace officers.

Will be working on my BB tune to dial this thing in but so far I am beyond satisfied with the results.

Nice. The price is pretty much standard for the seal box intakes. Right around the $400 mark.

Another good intake to add to the mix. Make the decision that much tougher to make.

I really need to get off my ass and make a decision on this already.

I am still waiting for S&B to release their intake (should be within the next month) at an entry price of $299. I loved my AEM on my '05 but anything North of $300 just doesn't make sense imho.

I just took at look at the S&B site and I like the design/function for the 2013 GMs, so hopefully that stays similar for the '14s. I also really liked my AEM on my last ride but I'm with you, the price does leave something to be desired. I've waited this long, what's another month.

I just installed the Airaid... When I first started my truck up.. the cooling fans kicked on... I have never heard this before. Truck was cold while I installed. So I shut it down... waited a few seconds and restarted... all was fine.. no fans kicking on. Went for a short drive...everything seemed ok. No codes or anything.

Anyone have any idea what would cause these fans to kick on like that?

Just installed the AFE intake on my truck and had the same thing happen. Must have something to do with it detecting that teh MAF was unplugged? Who knows. Like yours it only did it on the first start and has been normal since.

So what are the current options for the 4.3? I see k&n has just a filter replacement but I'm struggling to find a CAI for this motor

I just installed the Volant CAI system with the Donaldson filter. I had this installed for a week before installing the Corsa exhaust, and I will say, it sounded good, but might be a little much without the added exhaust sound.

Overall I am pretty pleased. As others have stated with the Volant system, the fit and finish could be a little better (the cover doesn't directly line up with the box). The only thing I was really disappointed with was the cheap rubber hose that comes with the system for the valve cover breather lines. The hose would easily kink, so I went to the local auto parts store and bought 3 feet of corded thick rubber hose that will not kink for $7. I do really like the Donaldson filter and I think the system sounds great when combined with the Corsa exhaust!

I don't know if it is providing any "colder" air, but there is definitely more air available vs the stock system, so that can't be a bad thing...

Nice looking setup. Good job

Thanks. Not sure about MPGs yet. It may have slightly increased, but I need to go through a few tanks of gas before I am willing to make any claims. I am still on the stock tune for now.

Can someone who has installed the Volant tell me if I would have any issues installing one on my truck with a 1.5" body lift? I'm not sure if the fender intake would line up correctly.

    • On my wife's 2020 Blazer (~69000 miles), we started to notice the brakes pulsating at faster speeds. Typically around town you don't notice anything, but highway/interstate driving you will notice it. I decided to pull of the front tires and look at the brakes. I figured with the milage, the pads should be wearing out to their life span, but they actually looked decent. Still with "meat" on them. One pad has a ridge wearing in it, and that same rotor is showing the ridge too. That's not the concerning part...the other rotor appears to have a raised bump on it!  The picture make it look like a pimple! Very odd and strange! NOTE: These are the factory brakes and rotors.   I'm attaching pictures of the front brakes and what they look like ate ~69000 miles.
    • 2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD Custom 6.6 Gas Canadian built Truck  I tried to search for my previous thread on this topic but cant find it so my apoligies  for starting another one    #1   Since we have owned our truck purchased new it has this strange noise after using the remote start function  you press the remote start and you hear it start but right at the end of it starting it almost seems like it wants to start again after the truck is running .   There is no gap in time it is right at the end of the start . Almost sounds like when you have started a car/truck and its running and then you try and start it again and you get that grinding noise ,sort of     #2  You can only hear this if you are standing outside of the truck and near the truck  you cant hear it when you start the truck from inside  the cab . So it may very well be happening when starting the truck that way as in normally    #3   This only happens when it is started after sitting . For how long I don't know but it happens after sitting overnight for sure and it wont do it if you stop the engine after starting and then start it again  I have had it in to the Dealership before concerning this but they did not have the truck  when it was cold to hear it . Now its back in the Dealership left it overnight so they could possibly hear the problem . They said they tried and nothing happened . Well they did not know what they were listening for . I started the truck remotely and BINGO it makes the noise . Oh that sounds weird they say . We need to look into it ! I have left for this week at the Dealership    Does your 2024 2500 HD gas do this ?  Any of you fellas care to take the time and trouble to film this operation from a cold start  so I can hear what your sound like  Really  would like to know if this is anormal sound  Thank You Fellas !!
    • 2026 Z71.  The other day I was backing a trailer into the barn.  The alarm was going off just because the trailer was in the field of the warning sensors when you get too close to something.  For some reason now the warning alarm doesn't work anymore.  It used to go off when I was just normally backing my truck into garage.  I still have the guidelines in the back up camera.  Is there a button or something to push to turn the sound/Alarm on and off?  I have the touch screen in this truck.  There isn't a "P" on the dash except for the parking brake.  I can't find anything in the touch screen under settings or vehicle.  Thank you in advance.
    • Well one of our most reliable vehicles was sold yesterday. The first and only I gave for free to a grandkid. If they got skin in the game they take care of it. My wife bought new. Five years later my daughter got it to use. We got it back and gave it to our grandson after graduation. He did zero maintenance just oil changes. When the AC quit he drove his mother’s car rather than get it fixed. Instead he just bought a beater and sold the Elantra.
    • I usually do as well or better than the sticker for mileage. Usually better going west than east. North then South. Wind makes a difference. I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist. But it did dawn on me I’m going by the vehicle calculation. Now that would be interesting.
