Impatience II Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I have always back my vehicles into the garage and had the Home Link buttons in each of my trucks. The transmitter with this truck is horrible. I have to practically be inside my garage for it to work when backing up. I'm talking, my tailgate is inches from the garage door. If I pull forward to the garage it is better, but I prefer to back in. Anyone experiencing similar problems?
msea Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I have the same problem with Home Link on the garage door opener. Sent problem to Home Link and they told to re install codes. Not much help from them. So still using old factory garage door opener. But Home link works my drive way gate ok.
Impatience II Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 Reinstalling codes makes no sense as the unit opens the door, just from a foot away. It's a transmitter issue. I'll be damned if I'm going to deal with the vendor. I have a list of issues that need correction, the dealer can deal with it.
jtenney Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 You back into your garage? Don't see that very often. Anyway it sounds like GM might have used a directional antenna on the Home Link transmitter. In that case, is there any time when you are approaching the house that you can hit the button before you start turning around to back in? That will by far be the easiest solution. GM can just say it is "operating as designed". I'm assuming it really does work right when you approach driving forward. Like from 50 feet away.
haider320 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 This is the first I have heard of this. I can be two houses down from my house and can open my garage while I'm coming down the street.
klrrdr Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 also can be a couple of houses away and work great. My old toyota had to be half way up the drive to work
DRS 95 Silverado Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I think mine works better than the transmitters that came with the doors. Got it programed for three different doors. One is older type. One is the newer rolling code type. And the one I just replaced on the house is the newer 315mhz type. Works on all three.
Impatience II Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 Even when pulling forward I have to nose up to the door. I have always backed into the garage. Creature of habit I suppose. At work we back into everything. In the FD, we always back the apparatus into the station.
Impatience II Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 I have mine programmed to two doors. Same issue with both doors.
TxTruckMan Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I agree with checking your garage door antenna.
Impatience II Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 I've had home link on a Ford, Dodge, and now this thing. Never had a problem. Issue occurs on two separate GDOs. The problem is something with the truck.
rjgvt Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I have two garage door openers programmed with the Home Link buttons and they work just like the factory remote openers.
Northside Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I programmed mine and it work great from a couple of hundred feet down the road. Mine is a guardian opener.
