It is working. To verify, I shut off bluetooth on my phone, ejected data card, so the only input I have is the lightning cable from my iphone plugged into the USB port.

The cable I specified above is color coded with a green end to match the green input (port originally used for glove box USB cable connection) on the HMI, and a grey end for the port on the rear of the triple USB. More importantly, the angled notch is on the correct side for each plug, so there is no trimming needed and they snap in solidly.

Son of a gun. well I'm on my way to the dealer for a different reason , but I am going to confirm again that the way mine is setup is not communicating , as well it may be and i'm just daft..... but if its not i may pull the trigger on that cord. my only hesitancy is yours is a 2016 , mine is a 2015. can't see there being any difference in the HMI programming for that particular port ? i never did test , but i imagine your glovebox port also communicated with the radio before removing it....? or did you try that prior. makes me wish i had of now. guess its an easy pull it apart and try

My glove box USB did work with the radio.

I did not splice those two together. I used the red and black wires only from the USB power plug off the new harness. I believe TBarn stated in an earlier post that the other wires (blue, green, purple, and gray) weren't used for anything. I spliced the (red and black) with the (Purple/yellow and black) from the 12V plug as well as the (brown/white and black) from the LED wiring. Then I connected those two single leads to power and ground. I didn't want to splice into the existing harness at all for warranty reasons.

So I have one lead that powers the LED, additional 12V plug and Triple USB port in front of console. For the Data portion I used the cable listed above AC Delco 19303284 to run from the Triple USB to the HMI. I didn't want an additional connection involved with the data transfer, and everything snapped together like OEM.

Hope this helps.

Is that delco cable something dealers carry, or an online-only purchase? I tried a mini USB trimmed in the back of the triple USB and still only get charging capability.

Also, I used the existing front cig lighter for constant power but it touched the ground while the wire was stripped. Can't find a blown fuse and these fuse panels are a pain to interpret. Now my LED doesn't work, even though I spliced the brown/white wire to that same front cig lighter, which makes me wonder if I just zapped the fuse. Anyone have any idea which fuse to check (maybe passenger side)? Checked most of the driver side fuses and they look ok, even though they are hard to read IMHO. Otherwise I'm thrilled with a successful mod.

I found the cable online. I think I ordered that from GMpartsonline, so I don't know if it is something the dealer would stock.

The fuse is likely located in teh passenger side. I know that is where the USB fuse is located. Boy that side was a real bear to get off the first time. Seems to have loosened up a bit after that.

I am still confused as to why I get data transfer, but no Apple Car play. It just doesn't seem to recognize the iphone, but it plays music off it. I checked part numbers and the USB ports have the same part number for 2015 and 2016 on the center consoles, but I thought someone stated that 2016 models didn't have the SD card port on them. Not sure why they would have the same part number if they made a change like that. The triple USB is the same part number as well.

Mine is a 2015 so I don't think I ever had car play. As difficult as it's been trying to get the front USBs working with seemingly logical solutions and non-delco cables from the HMI to the front USBs (something I tried), it doesn't surprise me that there are capabilities like Car play that folks can't conquer.

I'll look forward to prying off the passenger side and looking at those fuses. I had a Nissan truck in college 20 yrs ago and those fuses were a LOT easier to read if they were blown or not, unless I'm reading them wrong.

Ok...the console is in. Rolled a donut on the front USBs....no data or charging. So it seems the generic USB cable I used is junk. I'll be ordering the GM cable to give that a try. All else is working great and very happy with how it came out. Thanks to all who contributed to this discussion and made the work easier for the rest of us.

For those of you going the other way and getting rid of the console, here's a cheap way to cover up the missing carpet where the sub-woofer was mounted. WeatherTech is the only company that makes an over-the-hump one piece front floor mat. Husky has the 3 piece version, but it looks terrible. Feels and looks so good not having that huge console in the way.

Got my jump seat pulled today, harness yanked out, the rest of my parts should be in Tuesday. Going to have an extra top trim in Synthesis w/o cup holders if anyone is looking for one. Has the 220v outlet, but can be swapped for your 110v from your dash, was going to swap mine over but ended up getting a different colored trim piece.

I did this mod last summer and have all working. I used the USB connection that was inside the center compartment and used that for the front USBs. Straight plug and play. For the center compartment USBs I took the center dash apart and connected the GM USB cable to the one free USB I saw and connected it to the brown USB connector on the console wiring. I spliced both the existing console wiring from the jump seat and the new wiring from the console together. I have everything working just fine. All

the USB ports. Charge and send data to the HU, both power ports work and the 110v port works.

hey everyone, I drive a 2015 Sierra with gray leather. I really want to take out my jump seat and have a full length console installed. I would never attempt this myself and wouldn't even be comfortable ordering the parts on my own. Is there anyone anywhere near Charlotte, NC who would want to make some money doing this for me? I can't find a dealer who will even get the parts for me.

Thanks!

Ive read through this entire thread twice. I have 2 different places that will help me install, but no one is willing to stand behind ordering all necessary parts.

I have gray leather seats with black doors and dash and wood trim on a '15 Sierra, but would be ok with a black console and white stitching since it would match the dash. Is there anyone willing to help me locate the parts?

I just finished the swap and would like to thank those ahead of me for all the information.

I used these part numbers

23467113 Upper trim panel in Synthesis

22776807 Console assembly front bracket

23467516 Side trim

22817347 Side trim

23466980 Console

19303284 Cable from HMI to USB

I have a 2016 2500HD LT model with black leather seat. The cable I used is a perfect match to the HMI and USB(3) ports. I used the existing harness for the rear ports, and then salvaged the LED wiring, a 12V plug, and USB power plug from the new harness. I spliced the three together and connected them to continuous power at the fuse panel on right side. I then removed the glove box USB cable and used the open port on the HMI for the new cable to the triple USB port.

I have everything working including data and charging at the USB's. I originally had Apple carplay in the original configuration, but that no longer works. I think it might be due to the new console and the ports that are installed. Carplay wasnt' available on the 2015 models, so it may be the configuration of the hub built into the ports. I found another console 23466999 which I believe is for the 2016 models but I couldn't confirm that. I also preferred having the SD card slot over the carplay feature.

Everything in the post above yours here should work for you other than the trim panel which has synthesis for the trim. everything else is the black console with white stitching, and black side trims with front bracket and USB cable to go from the HMI green port to back of triple usb port on panel.

You can contact one of the online retailers listed throughout this thread and give them your vin # to have them look up what trim you have and then get the appropriate trim panel. I ordered most of mine through this website -
