Took a 400 mile road trip to Georgia today and picked up my new daily driver. It's a 2013 VW Passat SEL TDI. I must say I was very impressed with the 6.2 today. Towed like champ and really like the engine braking in tow haul mode.

60 to 70 highway? I have my doubts as you can see. 38 city is reasonable and maybe high 40's low 50's for highway but I've never heard of something as high as 60+

Next time I go out IL take some pictures for the average. Tattoo artist is in DeLand which is a ways away averaged 65 mpg. If you set cruise at speed limit it's amazing

I love the car to death. I'm thinking of doing the VW buyback which is about $30k. Then I have a dealer who will sell me the same car but a 2015 and red for $17.5 brand new. But this all pending what the terms of the buyback and such.

60 to 70mpg is a tad high at highway speeds. But I have read about guys getting mid 50's and others getting over 1000 miles per tank on highway trips. Overall these TDI engines are really amazing. I can't imagine how a V8 turbo diesel Duramax drives! This car has definitely increased the itch for a 2500.

Here's two pictures I took this weekend while going 40mph.

Just so you know the recall will need to be completed on every car in the dealers inventory before they can sell these cars. Unless you find a way for them to not do the recall, but vw is going to watching us closely. I say us because I am a vw technician.

Yup, I'm waiting to hear when they will be sold, fixed and/or available for sale. One rumor is leftovers will be fixed and then sold to fleets or to VW employees using the cash back as incentive money. But if I can pull of what I want to do I would get a 2015 Passat TDI brand new for just a couple grand if that lol. But if that can't happen then that's ok I got the car for a good deal too. It's 45mpg to work today will pay off very quick.

Midnight edition and standard bed...Nice! Did you have to order that truck?

That is a nice truck. Those rims look sharp too.

I detailed the interior :D

Looks much better. Amazing what the ol' dihydrogen monoxide and microfiber cloth can do. Plus the water in my bucket didn't get nearly as dirty, seems like I should keep up the frequent detailings.

Now if I can quit spending my pocket money on unnecessary stuff like food or cookware for my new place, I can go wash it.
