what brand/model number did you use for the dash speakers?

Sundown Audio SA-2.75 FR v2 - LINK HERE

Other people have had good success using the Memphis Audio PRX275 speakers in the front - LINK HERE

I went with Sundown Audio because at the time I couldn't find any of the PRX275's in stock anywhere. It worked in my favor anyways because I also ended up going with Sundown Audio coaxials in the doors as well - same series. This way I can also pick up a good amp later from Sundown Audio if I want to boost the speakers a little bit. They get just as loud as the stock speakers but can handle A LOT more power than what the head unit is feeding them. That will be later if I ever decide to add a small sub to the center console, if I ever swap out my jump seat for a center console..... ?

so since you have done those do you know are the dash speakers tied into the door speakers? or do they have there own channel from the factory amp?

That, I cannot accurately answer. I've read in some places that they are full range speakers, NOT tweeters, so my best guess is they're tied in with the door speakers but obviously don't play anything in the low range. I looked and I cannot find an amp in my truck unless I'm looking in the wrong place or it's behind my dash and I'm not tearing that apart to figure that out. If I'm going to do that, I'm going to rewire everything to a proper amp with crossovers to send just the highs to the full range speakers in the dash. Then I'd separate my door speakers and put tweeters in the a-pillars.

Sorry that I don't really know the answer to your question. I am just now delving into the electronic side of things in this truck - everything has been mechanical or practical use so far.

They should be mid-range speakers, not tweeters.

I can check when I am able to replace mine, i'm running new wires to focal flax 3-ways. Hopefully this weekend.

The amp is behind the back seat mounted to the rear of the cab, I have accumulated just about everything needed to do a full swap, I just need a amp wiring kit and I can swap all the speakers, i put kappa's in the rear doors and I have a component set for the front doors and I bought the sundowns for the dash, I have a jl audio 6channel amp for the regular speakers and a memphis single ch for the base speakers, i have 2 10" jl audios and the cabinet to put under the rear seat and the amp adapter harness, Oh i also need a amp mounting bracket and I am waiting on kenwood to release there 10" headunits which should be anytime now. i have the maestro rr kit and all the adapters needed to swap the headunit so I'm almost there..... I have been piecing it together since xmas since I'm not rich ??

Bought a used 9” mcgaughy lift off OfferUp, dropped it off at a shop getting sand blasted and powder coated gloss black since they had it cheaply painted (only bought it since it was cheap and the shops around my area wanted me to pay 2500-2900$ for it installed) after buying the rear add a leaf, sand blasting and  powder coating it still coming in under 2000$ installed. Hopefully I can get my truck in the shop to have it installed in about a week or so.

(Damn ? I can only imagen how much @CovetedStyle candy powder coating costed ? I think my wife would of killed me fr!)

Dang Frankie, look at you go! There was a blue Silverado with the lift height I want to go for parked next to me today. Makes it even harder to wait any longer...

What have I done today?

Hmm...

Well...

Only click the spoiler, if you dare! I'm warning you... really, this is your last chance...

Spoiler

I did an oil change, and no, I did not use Amsoil! GASP!!!

Anyways, I had my fun. Trying out the Shell Rotella Gas Truck 0W20 this time. Can't really say no to at least trying it when it's on sale right now at NAPA - $24.99 for 5 qt and $5.49 single qt - ended up buying enough for 2 oil changes. Also picked up a Wix XP filter.

Alignment ✅ , had to put the 22’s back on to get it done.. but it’s done and swapped back to the big boys. Did some heat cycles yesterday to break in the new gears so she’s coming home this weekend! Ready to roll! Check out the build for a sneak peak

    • Congratulations Isttype, on your gmc. Really like my 2024 2500hd sle doublecab now with 85,500 miles.  I checked the oil today at 4800 miles since last oil change and barely reading on the stick.  I don't care if GM says it's Acceptable adding a quart every 2000 miles because that is 100% BS, It is not a 1966 Harley Shovelhead! Sounds like it's setting up a future failure like I had with my 1500 6.2l. Other than oil consumption problems, I really like the 6.6l gas and 10 speed is really nice.  Towed a light 4000 pound trailer last week and averaged 14 mpg.  I was pretty impressive that a 7300 pound gas truck did 14mpg towing, Later-
    • Long Term Cold Cycle Limited Testing   Back to the 1990's and XOM's million mile test. Since then there have been others and there will be more. Schaeffer's, AMSOIL to name two. Of these Schaeffer's is the stand alone which I will explain in a bit later.    http://papers.sae.org/600190/:   http://papers.sae.org/850215/:   Up to 75% of  engine wear occurs on cold starts. These two links (above) provide the technical reasons for engine wear. In a nut shell, and by a large margin, cylinder wear is what takes out most motors and even with a pre-oiling system that part of the engine is dry enough on cold starts and cold warm up to pierce Stribeck.   So when you put a motor, or a car, on a dyno for a million miles stopping only for oil changes, (yes fuel is uninterrupted) or break down maintenance, you are depriving the test of the most important part of it's wear cycle. Yes a million is then a pretty easy walk even for a mineral oil under those conditions.    How about cleanliness during the long test cycles? Same thing. Varnishes that stick rings and insulate parts are laid down by repetitive 'heat cycles'. It's the cool down the precipitates the varnishes. These long runs also hinder acidic attack caused by cold start richness and less than optimal cold start ring sealing. They hinder water formation and enhance breathing of the crankcase; the petri dish of acid formation, the first step in sludge formation, amalgamation and precipitation. These motors are also monitored and controlled for water and oil temperatures to within the "normal operating range".      https://www.swri.org/sites/default/files/sequence-iiih-test.pdf Note the test sequence in some boutique oils literature for testing, API IIIH, is not the standard used for the ILSAC G7 testing. Does that mean it is irrelevant? No, not as used. As used as a 'visual guide' it makes it's point. The G7 weighted piston deposit minimum is lower.      Back to Schaeffer's. That was a cyclical test of an engine in fleet service and not a dyno mule and if you saw the video it was not mirror clean but wear was low.    There are oils like BioSyn and other 'Renewable" source oils that taught cleanliness and have proven themselves in fleet testing. Havoline an other example.    The newest ILSAC G-7 test prioritize cleanliness, LSPI mitigation and fuel economy OVER WEAR. In comparison Porsche C30 Specification Verses ILSAC G-7 Specification below:      Some will balk that this graph isn't apples to apples and I will challenge that in that this graph represent the SPECIFICATION and not the any One Oil Performance.   It is absolutely possible to minimize wear, maximize cleanliness and mitigate LSPI etc., It just isn't cheap and currently I see none that are not walking toward profit over performance.
    • I don't think you will need a split, separate product, etc., the OBD port should be able to deliver everything you need. Since your device would be plugged into it all the time, it wouldn't miss anything.    Hardware in this case will be the easiest part of your project - ELM 327 devices will already deliver all the data you need. Reporting/software is where your advantage/marketability is.
    • I do too. I’ll never be stuck again 😂
    • It has happened to me a few times. I carry a jumpstart-tire inflator with me.
