No, the third cat is not monitored. You can remove it with no consequences and no codes. Unless you live in California where it will not pass inspection without it.

I always say that these trucks have six mufflers.

3 Cats

Flapper

Resonator

And a muffler the size of a school bus.

It's no wonder they sound like a Prius!

[emoji23] well the only thing left is the 3 cats. Gonna see how much the shop will charge to remove. Just worried about it sounding like a ricer.

Removing the flex fitting won't change anything. It's only there to absorb exhaust pipe vibration.

Thanks man. Maybe just leave that and remove the cat beside it.

If you remove all three Cats it's going to be Extremely Loud. If it's a V8 it will sound like a race car, if it's a V6 it won't sound good! Also removing the two primary cats will definitely throw a code showing that your oxygen sensors are not working correctly. The only way to get rid of those codes is to have a tuner turn off the rear oxygen sensors. It will also stink.

Hmm ok. Right now I have the parts shown in the pic and the cat up forward with the sensor attached. The stock muffler, flapper and resonator have been removed.

Finally got around to running the wire from the back to the front. Also installed the power tailgate lock (still can't believe it doesn't come stock) and some backup lights that will eventually be work lights too via a relay.

Ran a bunch of extra wire too for future plans.

Doesn't look too bad, but the top isn't straight. Sorry, might just be my OCD and not saying I could do any better lol. I like the look of it both ways though.

It's definitely not straight lol. It was just a quick 3 coat spray on just to get an idea for me. Did it while I was blacking the emblems out. Truly don't know if I'll keep it or not.

Please do yourself and everyone else a favor and don't remove your cats, you're just going to run rich unless you tune for it and you'll stink up the drive thru's.

I think if you vinyl wrapped it instead it would look best. Plus it should be cheap to do.

Haha. I definitely wouldn't remove the 2 main forward ones.

Cool. I'm gonna call the exhaust shop that installed my flowmaster to see if these are cool to remove. Maybe get a little more sound out of her.

The guy at the muffler shop I went to offered to remove the 3rd cat for me, said it wasn't needed but I opted to leave it on.

Is that power tailgate lock a kit or did you do that yourself? Did it tie into the existing unlock button on the truck or do you have to carry a separate remote. I like that.

It was the pop and lock kit. It was $90 ish on amazon. I wired it to the lock and unlock motor wires (not the normal lock and unlock wires) in the pink plug on the bcm under the dash. Works with the factory key fob and my aftermarket computer fob. And the onstar app.

Sweet! I think I'm gonna look into that for my truck. Thanks for the info
