Any truth to old invoice vs new invoice savings?

I have a dealer telling me that the invoice on identical 2014 trucks is $2,000.00 less due to price increase. One truck has an old invoice prior to price increase and the other has new invoice or $2,000.00 more. Is there any truth to this at all?

Yes there is. I frequently go on the build & price GMC cite. I''ve seen a Sierra Denali for $46+K and a more recent cite for $48+K all within the same day? I ordered my Denali and my excellent sales manager ordered mine days before the increase.

Price up $2K and incentives down, makes me disappointed. Got the 6.2 for an added 2K, alum block and heads as does the 5.3. Where's the justification for the increase over the 5.3?

Absolutely true. Sometime back in October GM increased the baseline invoice by $1500-$2000. When I purchased my truck I had the choice to two trucks exactly the same style/color/options and one was amost $2000 more than the other. So if you find an older invoice with the options you want...get it....it is like getting an extra $2000 discount.

Yep. Ran into this when I bought mine in December. I really wanted red or blue, but those were both 'new stock' on my local lots. Going with the 'old stock' silver one saved me about $1800.

I did the same found one just after new years fully loaded minus Z71 save nearly 2k. Interesting enough there was one on the lot that had a window sticker at 52k but when the sales lady ran the numbers their computer had it listed for 53800. They refused to adjust the price to what was on the window and that essentially ended the transaction.

Thats not right, my dealer gave me the window sticker price and the rebates. That was back in October though.

The price increase happened on December 2nd. I ran into this last week when I picked up my Denali. The dealer ordered it on Nov. 13th & e-mailed the order & pricing info to me. When the truck showed up last week, he didn't look at the invoice until I got there to pick it up. He called GMC & had them on the speaker so I could hear the conversation. The gal told him that the price increase was on 12/2 & they didn't pick up the order to be built until 12/5. She suggested he call his GMC rep & he did. The guy called back in a few minutes & told him they would honor the old price as long as he sold it to the person whose name was on the order. I suspected something was going on when I saw the truck show up on the dealer's website with a higher retail price...$56,730 instead of what was on the original order.

I just looked at the window sticker & it shows $51,465 before options. The build date was 1/13 or 1/14.

it's a flat $1500 off base MSRP, and $100 (995 vs 1095) in delivery charge, so $1600 total savings for Pre Mid-October builds. I looked VERY hard to find this combo with what i wanted and it was VERY difficult for the Sierras. Hard to find one that had the $1000 discount for SLT value package, so it usually came out a wash once i found what i wanted.

GM first caught my eye in the later summer with the advert. that the 2014's would be the same price as 2013's. That lasted about 2 months and they ditched it in favor of this whole "Raise the price so people feel special and rich spending more on a truck". I think the rebates will come hard in the next quarter or two since ford can afford the rebate their lame duck 14' model in anticipation of the 15's and supposedly GM truck sales are struggling.

Yep, the first increase of $1500 was at the end of October. I was initially looking to buy right before the increase, but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I then decided to order a Denali. My sticker was $53,730 before rebates - same price from Denali launch until I took delivery in December. Right after I took delivery on 12/10, there was another increase and the MSRP for the same build was $53,730 AFTER $1500 rebate. So there has been at least $3k mark up since October.

Wow, thought this was just confusion on the dates/timing but this really clears up the issue. They raised the base MSRP almost 10% since rollout?! thats pretty gutsy. Wonder it this just applies to denali, or if there are any SLT/SLE owners out there that saw a double price jump over 3 months?

Price increases for the same year vehicle are not that uncommon throughout automotive industry, but in this case the increases are rather steep. Also, munufacturers typically increase prices when sales are booming and that specific model vehicle is in great demand. I am not sure if this is the case here.

This is getting so rediculous then with the low rates and long terms they make it "seem" cheap..... "Its the same payment you had on your last truck sir" Yeah but the last truck was a 5 year note not 7.......

    • I've installed cheap eBay new aftermarket digitizers before.  They work.  Did a bunch of Cadillac CUE (aka Cadillac's MyLink) for someone years ago.  They all worked fine after the repair.    That number 22740886, that is a component part # for GM.  You can use it to search, but its not something that's obtainable at the dealer level.     So pretty much any of these will work - 2015 Colorado Digitizer for sale | eBay

    • You can install tailpipes that direct the exhaust sideways vs the OEM one that goes straight back. There are several on the market, do you own research. HOWEVER, you need to make sure the Venturi vents are still intact, otherwise it will throw a engine code. There is a sensor somewhere that detects back pressure on the exhaust. And if it doesn't collect the correct metrics, it will throw the truck into limp mode.
    • "Teardown" is complete. Head surfaces are clean and ready, new intake is prepped and ready. Coolant drained and water pump is removed, radiator is removed, new hoses and pump are ready.   The replacement intake is also from a '95 (with I think 260k, the odometer said). Noticeably less pitting where it covers the rear coolant passages. I'm not sure if that's a tribute to more frequent use, more frequent coolant changes/upkeep, or if the intake was machined at some point. But it appears I found a good one.   My coolant hoses were original, and the lower hose still retained the factory spring inside. It's not really rusty, but it's got deposits all over it. Unsure if I should re-install it (will thoroughly clean it first). Someone said hose technology has gotten better since 1995 (has it?) and I don't need the spring. I think modern EPDM is what made those hoses last from 1995-2026, so it's a question of how much suction can the water pump really pull, and will it collapse the hose without a spring?   I'm stopped and waiting for parts, however.   When I first brought the truck home, the fan was intermittently hitting the radiator shroud. I could see someone had monkeyed with the shroud (put a bunch of cardboard as a spacer between the upper/lower shroud halves. Someone said the motor mounts have likely failed and the engine has sagged. I wasn't sure I believed that. The engine is really solid in its mounts: To remove the old intake I *just* nearly permanently welded to the heads with freshly cured RTV and gasket snot two weeks ago, I literally had to use the arms on my lift and a chain with a bolt attached to the intake to pull it loose. It almost picked the front of the truck off the ground before ....scuuuuuuuuuuup.... I could actually hear the gaskets tearing and it broke loose and the whole truck settled back down. Motor barely moved.   SO, those parts I'm waiting on... The lower radiator mounts/bushings had completely failed. The radiator needs to be insulated from the rad support, and the bushings help the rad stand at the correct height. The plastic "baffle" was also destroyed at some point. Someone had attached the shroud to it incorrectly, overlapping a joint that should have been underlapped, creating another suspect issue potentially causing things to hit the fan. Broken tabs, side is busted off, and it's perma-formed/bent where it was jimmied incorrectly.   The baffle? Unobtainum. Long since discontinued from GM, of course. Aftermarket/capa/chinese? Also unobtanium. In GM's infinite wisdom, it appears there are at least two different variations whether the Blazer is 2 or 4 door, and I can't yet tell if they shared the same part with the S-pickups. Plan B, if I can't find a viable used one, will be to create a bracket to re-assemble the critical joint I need to seal a gap with the shroud. But that will bug me, it won't be...perfect.   The water pump bolts appear to have been installed with...plumber's putty. I guess, sure, if it works...? I've found a few "backyard fixes" like that. Someone's been here before....   If I can't find someone to jam bamboo under my fingernails to fill my free time this week I think I'll install the driver's power window motor and replace the rear door speaker that's inop. I've got a genuine GM "9.5" ohm working replacement. Why GM used a non-standard resistance....nevermind. Of course they did, you can get more sound from a cheap factory amp that way.   And the saga goes on...
