I agree, the 12 gauge with 00 buckshot is handsdown best for home defense

But, I have an XD(M) .40 cal in OD green and it shoots great IMO. I like how you can switch out the backstraps to adjust to your hand, plus the ammo capacity is amazing for the caliber bullet, I believe it is 16+1 capacity

Didn't feel like reading through all the posts after the first page so this might have already been said lol

That would be an awesome gun for home defense. Get the best of both worlds there. May be my next pistol purchase...

XD's are excellent guns, I prefer the XDm over the original XD. Get a 9mm, less recoil generally cheper ammo etc. If you we're close by I'd offer free shooting lessons.

Look up Hickok45 on youtube he has some great info and can be trusted.

With that said keep in mind handgun rounds suck for home defense IE if you miss your mark shooting at an intruder that round is gonna go through a lot of walls before it stops. I carry a gun everyday concealed, a 4" Kimber 45 acp, I also keep it bedside at night. I'd much prefer to run my AR-15 for a home defense gun but, it's locked up in the safe and I haven't been able to justify a fast access safe for it yet. If you look at serious testing things like 00 buck, most rifle rounds and handgun ammo, even high end hallow points will punch through lots of walls. The .223 excells with the right round because of the super light weight round it tumbles when it hits something like a wall and doesn't keep on goin though as many walls.
