RyanbabZ71 Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 finished my application for my lifetime license to carry (personal protection). Need to get it processed and sent. Will probably purchase end of Nov or early dec.
CAtaylor Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Another vote for the Taurus Judge for the main home defense gun, not a good carry gun but good for inexperienced shooter; just point and squeeze. It is a little much to handle for the wife if you move up to the 3" rounds, the 2 1/2" defense rounds aren't bad and it shoots 45 long colt as well. Wife likes her Sig P238 for everyday shooting, smooth, light and accurate. I love my XD45 and Beretta PX4 Storm .40 cal. The XD has never jammed and is accurate until your finger gets tired; probably the heaviest trigger I have ever had on a gun but it is great till you get to magazine number 4 or 5. The Beretta PX4 it is just an all around good, reliable and accurate gun. I also like the added safety of the de-cocker. These 2 get rotated in and out of the truck.
hollis092 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Small lightweight and accurate: Sig Sauer P238 SAS in .380 Large lightweight accurate and just fun to shoot: Springfield armory 1911 lightweight operator (railed) in .45 ACP I'd also recommend the Glock G21 Gen 4 in .45 ACP. A lot of cool mods can be done for little $$
TJMaine Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 My Every Day Carry ( EDC ) is a Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard .380 ( in my pocket ) My Every Day Carry in my truck ( for when im at work and cant carry on my person ) Was a Beretta PX4 Storm Sub Compact in 9mm, traded for a Sig Sauer SP2022 in 9mm My House gun is both my Bodyguard and the other Beretta PX4 Storm Sub Compact in 9mm I own ( PX4 is next to my bed ), as well as my AR15 in 5.56 ( not really my go to gun, but it's there if I need it ) All of my family members, (Wife, 9year old son and myself ) are fairly proficient with firearms and know proper safety. The only one have to keep out of reach for is the midget 3 year old running around the house. Do I sound paranoid? Not really, we had a gruesome attack a few years ago 2 miles from my house ( couple of wanna be thugs hacked a father and daughter nearly to death with a machete over some drug money his son owed or some stupid crap ) as well as several break in's in the neighborhood. Those little beretta's are easy to shoot, good recoil easily concealed in a IWB holster and at $500 are a good price... Just remember if you kill someone with the gun you wont see it for a long time if ever... So investing a ton of money into it is not the best idea. If your going to carry something, smaller is better as you will be more likely to carry. I would not worry so much about comfort in your hand, or anything of the such. ( most have 6 or 7 shots, double if you have an extra mag and have time to reload ) but lets be honest... you'll shoot someone and that will be the end of that gun. Take it to the range, shoot 50-100 rounds with it, clean it... Put it away and make sure it shoots a few times a year. This is not for range days, this is to save your life. Comfort will mean you will carry it more often ( I feel Naked without mine in my pocket when I leave the house ) If you want something next to your bed, maybe a multipurpose gun thats comfy to shoot and a tack driver at a decent distance.
RyanbabZ71 Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Ryan did you ever buy a gun? No had some bills I needed to take care of. I am eventually going with the Springfield armory XDS essentials .45 (4") Ryan
Truckerado Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Asking gun guys what gun to go with is like asking what underwear to get, everyone likes different styles or trims or sizes. It's all about personal preference. Go to a range where they rent guns out & try a bunch of different brands/models & more importantly different sizes & calibers. I agree with others on here that a manual pump shotgun will be best for home defense, like a 870, but if you really want a handgun then make sure to practice with it ' a lot' & keep it safely away from any loved ones. Best of luck
BlackZ71Silverado Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Get yourself a Glock 17. Very easy to learn with, simple maintenance, very reliable, 17rd. standard magazine capacity. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk

LongrangeLauber Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Well after a year of trying to decide and coming up with some extra cash I finally ordered today Springfield armory XDS .45 4" (essentials) Ryan SA had extra magazines on sale last month, picked up 2 Ryan Very nice! I was just looking at the xds today but in 3.3". Also like the new mob2 grip zone pistols SA has. Love my XDm though. Very comfortable to hold and easy to tear down. My buddy is probably also gonna get one soon cause he loved how it shot
RyanbabZ71 Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 They had a 3.3 in the store but I like the feel of the 4" better
LongrangeLauber Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I gotcha. I like a longer grip cause I'm not a fan of my fingers hanging off the bottom which is why the mob2 3.3" .45 grabbed my attention
