Question for Double-Cab Owners

Recommended Posts

I almost bought a double-cab. I ended up with the crew cab just because of the extra room in the back.

My question is... How do you use the extra space in the "back seat" area? Is it for tools, kids, groceries, people hauling?

If my only need was to haul my grandkids around, the double would have been fine, but for full size adults, pretty snug! (I mostly haul people rather than stuff...)

Mostly stuff..... Rarely humans.... and occasionally the wife's Corgi .

I very rarely haul people in the back... I think once in since I purchased the truck in Sept. That is why I got the double cab... I would rather have the extra bed space. Plus the double cab just looks better and has a better stance in my opinion. I keep the seats flipped up... throw all my hunting gear back there... and the dog sometimes. Perfect for my life.

I just carry stuff and rarely people and if I do carry people it is for short trips.

The Double Cab works best for me.

My five year old and maybe her friend or two. Sometimes the grandparents come with us, but nobody has complained about the space. Besides, if it was too comfortable, the mother-in-law might want to stay longer:) I am very happy with the DC and no regrets as it is exactly what I needed/wanted. I liked the longer box and didn't want to have the crew + longer box. I barely have enough room in the garage now.

I bought the Double Cab for the extra bed space and the potential for kids down the road, but I've been bringing the in-laws etc places in the back of mine and they've always been comfortable. I guess it all depends on your size up front because I'm not a big guy (5'7) and the wifey is 5'1 so we don't have those seats far back. But yea if I were looking more for a family hauler and truck secondary, then I'd have to go with a Crew.

Mostly just stuff. half the time i have one or both of the seats folded up. It's rare that I have people in the back seat. I would have liked a crew cab if I was having people in the back a lot, but for me the double cab works just fine.

Plus I like having the longer bed. I know you can get the standard bed with the crew cab, but it would be a tight fit in my garage.

It was cheaper, better looking to me. I wish they would have left it as an extended cab.

I'm starting to understand it now..... Not everyone wants to use their truck as an SUV, but don't really like SUV's (like me.....)

mostly stuff. If people do ride in it, its usually not far and I dont see it as big deal and they dont either. Personally I like the looks of a double extended cab better on a half ton. Crew cabs only seem to look good on a 3/4ton with a long bed. What I really dont like is the crew cab on a short bed, something looks off on it to me.

I went with a crew as I go camping a lot and the kids +1 are usually always with us. So that's three kids and one dog in the back. In a few more years one kid will lose interest and be in college. I assume my next truck in life I will favor the bed over the cab. So this will be my last crew cab.

I thought the same thing until we started having grandkids. They may not be very big, but they seem to take up a lot of space.....

I only needed the back seat for the dogs and to have a little extra storage so I went with the Double Cab.

Bought my double cab for the price and I know we all have our own opinions but I really do think the double cab looks better with the 6'6" bed, rather than the crew cab with the short bed. Plus the only person that ever rides in the back seat is my 5 year old in her car seat. Did I mention that most Double Cabs are assembled in America as well!!!
