2015 towing mirrors

Recommended Posts

Well I pulled the trigger and ordered these. I will see later this week how they turn out.

Those are the old style tow mirrors not the new ones like everyone is talking about here. If I was you I would cancel that order cause you can get them on eBay for way cheaper than $400

I realize they are the older style but my current mirrors are featureless so an upgrade for me :-) I was just curious if anyone had used this style and brand. Easier on my wallet too and something I can manage installing myself at home. I did look on eBay only saw one set that was slightly cheaper ($441).

I feel you mine were featureless but I wanted the new tow mirrors with all the lights so I just wired them myself. Plus I'm weird and since I paid the pretty penny for the new body style truck I wanted the new body style mirrors.

On a side note damn the prices on these went up a lot! I bought some of those same style ones for $180 with heat, power, and turns but not anymore apparently. Heres the cheapest I found. $300

Ah I was only searching for that brand / part number. Cancelled my order. I'll give these a try. Saves me even more money. Thanks for the additional info.

Sorry for going somewhat off topic about the non new style mirrors but I did end up finding a very good deal on these entry level tow mirrors. http://www.discountautomirrors.com/details/Chevrolet/Silverado_1500/Kool_Vue/Mirror/2014/LT/8_Cyl_5-dot-3L/CV126ER-PLK.html

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction stevencox93.

Wanted to share my experience...

Purchased a 2015 Double Cab 4X4 LT (Rally Edition) last week with stock mirrors. Negotiated the tow mirrors into the deal (part 23372182); settled on the all back ones since I got the all black truck with matte black stripes. Paid $437.50 for them since they have an agreement with my company (CVS Pharmacy) and offer "supplier" pricing, so all accessories are sold at dealer cost.

Dealer calls me up this week right before they install the mirrors to tell me that in order to have the mirrors fully functioning (outside amber/red turn/white cargo lights) that I would need 2 additional parts, the door harnesses @ $125 each. So I said, "...not my problem, I'm not coming out of pocket for it. My expectation when I asked for the mirrors was that they fully work as they are designed". After some back and forth and me threatening to walk away from the deal they said they would pay for them.

The next day they call me back and tell me that although GM sets the expectation that the mirrors AND harnesses take a TOTAL of 2hrs to install...their service department says it takes more like 4hrs to get the job done and recalibrate the trucks computer with the new codes. So they wanted me to pay for part of the $465 labor costs. Once again I told them to kick rocks. Finally they agreed to cover all costs for fear of losing the deal.

FYI...from what I'm told by the dealer there is NO WAY that the dealership would or could get the mirrors to fold electronically. Every other function is possible if the BCM is properly programmed. They run your vehicle's VIN through their system and if the computer says your truck can be outfitted with the codes then they will do it.

That's what made me nervous when I asked at the dealership. Parts guy seemed unsure of what was needed, then seemed slightly uneasy about it when he read having to have harnesses and reprogramming etc.. Then when I aske the service guy about the labor he said no problem, 1 hr, $99. I didn't feel comfortable forking out almost a grand for something they seemed unsure of. So I went the cheap route and installed the basic ones myself this morning. I have to give you guys who are installing the new ones and re-wiring yourselves props because removing the door panel is a huge pain. I don't understand why the harness connector could not have been right at the top avoiding having to do this.

  • 1 month later...

Earlier this year I worked with my local dealership to get the correct towing mirrors installed on my truck. Mine came with the small city mirrors.

As it stands now I have the correct DQS Mirrors installed. Everything works except the Amber clearance Lights and the white LED lights for backup assist. (technically I have the amber lights wired up as turn signals but I'm going to remove this)

I went back to the same dealership today and the parts manager pulled up the GM Bulletin that tells the dealer- ship what to order in regards to door harness as well if BCM needs new CALS or if the memory module needs new CALS.

The parts manager determines from my VIN and body codes that I need the following:

Driver Door Harness - 23171564

Pass Door Harness - 23171567

Memory Module needs new CALs

(Take in mind that I already have the correct mirrors installed. Chrome capped, manual extend, power fold, power adjust, passenger temp sensor [Duramax Engine])

I get ready to place my order and the Parts manager calls over the service manager AND I kid you not the Service manger refuses to install the harness and perform the flash. He says he's been working on another truck just like mine for over 16 hours and has yet to get everything to work; and as such he tells me and the parts manager that his shop will no longer be taking these types of job. Basically he tells me to go kick rocks.

I have since called 2 other local Chevrolet dealerships, none of which know what I am talking about and then they just want to take down my information and tell me they will have their service managers call me back.

Does anyone know of any dealership in the Houston, TX area that can help me? Can installing the correct harness and flashing the truck be that difficult?

Looking at the bulletin and reading it's instructions I could easily install the harness myself. I have A LOT of practice getting the door panels off as I installed 3 different mirror types until we got it right earlier this year. Flashing the memory module is where I will need GM's help.

Thank you to anyone in advance that can help!

Sorry I'm not in the Texas area so I can't answer your question but I have one of my own. How did you get the amber lights to work as turn signals? My mirrors work as expected (LED Back-up lights, Amber clearance lights, red turn signals on mirrors...but I would love to get the amber lights to work as turn signals.

Also could it be that your particular model needs

Kit

What dealerships in Houston did you go to/call? I live in Houston myself and would like to get this done. Who do I need to avoid? Lol

Here is your problem the Driver Door Harness - 23171564, Pass Door Harness - 23171567, and the "RZY" - 23387133 accessory harness are only designed to be used with the S4O/Chrome/23372181 and S4Z/Black/23372182 Mirror kits Like I am having installed on my truck that are manual fold only, So that leads me to believe they do not have wiring to support power fold Mirrors so even with the harnesses the power fold function would not work and would have to be wired in on your own. So far I have not heard of anyone who has put the power fold mirrors on and got them to be simply plug and play without extra wiring and replacing switches etc. but I may be wrong. also without the kit you don't have an authorization code to allow the dealer to reprogram the BCM to accept the mirrors witch may add another sticking point as GM has locked down on unauthorized dealer programming in these trucks.

Post #1 should have all the info you need.

Buried in that same post are instructions on how I can run my own wires to the mirrors and power on the LEDs and the Clearance light. I didn't want to have to go that route but if GM and their dealerships are unwilling to help me I just may have too.

Buckalew for sure said no.

I've left messages with service managers at Munday and Lone Star Chevrolet. If either of them are willing to give it a shot I'll be sure to post it here for others in the Houston area.

The GM Service bulletin clearly states that my truck can be upgrade to work correctly. I have the following :

2015 HD & AVF | CREW(43) | DL3 A45 | 23171564 | 23171567 | NO | NO | YES |
