I got my truck back yesterday and the rust is gone. Hopefully the repair will last. I am going to try and keep an eye on it and will make small repairs as needed. I leased the truck so if this continues to be a major issue, back it goes. Otherwise, I may just buy it at lease end as I really like the truck so far and I know its been taken care of ;)

For those in similar circumstances, it took a few months for the dealer to research the issue and then obtain the materials. My first complaint was made verbally to a service advisor back at the end of July and it then involved a series of emails to the Customer Relations Manager. Over all I think the dealer did a good job in handling the issue. Could have taken less time, but in the end they got it done. I guess my thoughts to others are to keep pressing the issue and keep it positive until it gets done. I never had to go beyond the dealer.

Same experience here. Going to buy a couple of cans so i can do touch ups.

My 2012 with only 11000 miles. GM will not address this.

The GM wax contributes as much to rust as it helps prevent it. It's easy to miss areas where the wax pulls away from the surface of the frame. Once the wax does this, it harbors salt and moisture against the steel. The wax simply doesn't adhere to the surface of the frame very well. You can try to maintain the wax coating but it'll be something you'll need to do once or twice a year. If you stop maintaining the wax undercoat, it won't be long until it looks like riendeau21's.

There are a few maintenance free undercoating products (POR-15!) on the market but most will require removing the factory wax and degreasing the frame. Probably removing the bed too.

If they would simply paint the frames, all you'd ever have to do to fix any potential rust that did eventually show up would be to hit it with some rustoleum.

I am going ahead with a Linex/Armaguard type undercoat here in a few weeks, will see how it looks/holds up. I looked under a 2008 power wagon ram (and you know how rusty rams can get) and the entire underside was coated with it and looked very durable and sturdy, even after 100k miles of mostly bush/gravel roads.

Found this on my 900 mile, sunny CA no snow, dirt or rain all asphalt commuted 2015....

Taking mine to the dealer tomorrow...

Only surface rust. But I didn't pay $47k for this sloppy a** sh**.. Might be cool now, but in 10 years that's not ganna look pretty.

I also checked 3 American made 2014/2015 trucks, and (10) 2008 - 2014 work trucks and non have what mine does. 1 work truck has some gunk in the tube frame. But the rest are all clean and rust free.

I think mine was just touched during the drying process. How this made it past QC tho..........

I went to a ford dealership and looked under all of their 2014 F150's, a total of 12 and none of them had a bit of rust.

I did the same at 4 chevy dealerships.

No rust on any but mine a week after I got it home... I even did it yesterday to GOV work and POV trucks. None but mine.

I've seen plenty of every make and model with this kind of issue. No one MFG is immune. To suggest otherwise is ignorant.

Anyone who begs to differ Google XXXX compant frame rust. Ford, Chevy, Toyota and Ram will show up with plenty of stories.

It's modern manufacturing, marketing and sales. Welcome to the future.

These marks on the Frame are the same as mine. They appeared after the first trip to the dealer for tire vibration problems. It almost looks like this is the lifting point when they put it on the lift.

Nope other side is clean. I sent these exact pictures to my local dealer and they asked if something was removed from that area.. They offered to recoat it under warranty this weekend.

Only on the rear passanger side.... So far.

Drivers side rear.

After taking this picture.. It almost looks like there is supposed to be a second rear skid plate for my passanger side.

Can anyone look and see if there is a passanger side rear skid plate where my rust spot is??

Cause going under there seem to be mounting holes for another skid plate like the driver side... But the exhaust is in that area. I think I might be missing a skid plate for my exhaust.

You're replying to a post that was referring to 2014 models a year ago. You say you have looked on chevy lots and found none with rust. That's understandable since GM has corrected the issue on most of the new 2015's sitting on the lots.
