2014 vs 2015 Silverado

I'm about to buy a new Silverado LTZ Z71 4x4 short bed. I really like the Blue Granite color and am disappointed that it won't be in the 2015's. Surprisingly, I was able to find a 2014 that is close to what I want (a few extra and a few missing options from ideal) in the Blue Granite.

What advice can the community provide on differences between the 2014 and 2015? What will I be missing out on?

I've seen the adds and deletes on the options, so I understand that, but I'm talking more about updates to things included in the standard packages. Like something better in the engine or drive train or radio.

Thanks!

Nothing huge. The regular cabs can now have the bigger 8" MyLink system. The 6.2 will have an 8-speed auto but that's late availability. All models drop HD radio too.

A few more things become standard/come in packages. Off the top of my head, LT's now have body coloured handles and mirrors, and the convenience package comes with the telescoping steering wheel.

Make sure u do not get the 3.08 axle ratio. Can't even climb a hill going 70 without downshifting. I traded in my 14 blue granite after 6 months and got a black 14 with Max tow with 3.73 axle. Best truck ever

Unless your getting a 6.2l or a higher end model, little to no change.

And like the other guy said dont get suckered into a 3.08 geared truck, junk.

I can't comment on towing or hauling, but for just general driving around it's fine. Nothing about my truck makes me think it's lacking anything. Then again I came out of a ten year old 4-cyl Corolla, LOL.

Bought the 2014 today. I'm very pleased. Such an upgrade from my 2002 Z71 4x4 Suburban!

New car smell all over my clothes and in my nose!

I test drove a truck before I bought mine. And my wife was with me. She actually commented first to me from the passenger side and said, this truck seems slow. Take in mind I am not a race car driver with my trucks. I test drove it further and thought to myself this thing has no nuts and cat get out of its own way. I went back to the dealer and and I almost walked away from GM that day, until the salesman said whats the problem, I told him the truck dont move, he said hold on a second, he said well its 3.08 gearing.

But your right any sort of serious towing like more than a sled trailer, I wouldnt definitely not buy this. IMO I wouldnt buy this period. Again Im sorry for the guys that got suckered into this by GM

why do you think the 8 speed is late availability. i have an 8 speed 6.2 being produced the week of 10/06/2014.

Because it is late availability. They've been making 2015s since like June. GM said the 6.2/8 speed would be Q4 and it sounds like they're making good on that.

I'm kinda bummed about the loss of HD radio. I've got a few HD stations I listen to for local news and classic country music, stuff that satellite doesn't do well. Don't get me wrong, I must have satellite, but I'm sick of GM deleting stuff, especially since it's probably just to help SiriusXM sell more subscriptions after the trial is over.

I'm waiting for 2016 to get the 5.3L with the 8-speed and I'm hoping the trucks don't get changed up too much and/or decontented further.

Hopefully the GMC sierra will get body colored fender arches instead of the standard black plastic. Better yet ditch the plastic all together!

Maybe a duramax half ton by 2016 model year? Please!

ok i guess....4 months into production isn't late availability to anyone in the business, and I've been in the business for 23 years.

not to mention this thread is 2 days old, not 4 months old, so saying something is late availability that is being produced now is misleading as it implies he won't have access to it for quite a while so even if it is late availability it is a moot point.

by the way, start of production was august, not june. so really, we are talking about 2 months into production. NOT late availability, which would be more like April 2015 or thereabouts.
