Need expertise help on BCM problem

Hi,

Fyi I have a Tech2 for any diagnostic you can Think of that will help me with my problem.

I have a 2002 Trailblazer sold new in Sweden, so it's a export model (export mode). It was sold new with, for example, the option of folding outside mirrors.

The following things do not work on my truck, or some of the settings dont work. I suspect a problem with my BCM but need your expertise advice and help.

1. No lights flashes or horn chirp when locking or unlocking the truck with the key fob (remote), it's set in the DIC to "both" (dome lights do come on).

2. The folding mirror do NOT work with the Power mirror knob on drivers door.

3. Head lights dos NOT turn on when unlooking the truck (set in the DIC).

4. Some of the options in the DIC have gone missing in the last couple of months.

5. When I lock the truck with the remote and then open the door from inside to trigger the alarm only the horn honks, but NO lights flashing.

6. When parked and turned off, the headlights are on for about 10 seconds, if I change the time in DIC it wont actually change the time the lights are on still about 10 sec.

So my questions are:

Do you Think all these problems are related to the BCM or could it be as easy as the ignition switch?

Is it possible that the BCM can loose it's programing and only needs to be reprogramed or do I need a new BCM?

I really need some help with these problems, so if any of you out there have any ideas I can try i really would appriciate it.

Thanks,

Eric Hjelte//

any codes in the BCM ?

No codes in any module. But I'll check again on monday evening after work

It is very possible you have a bad ground or bad bcm. First check grounds

The BCM ground or any ground at all?

Ok so here's the deal. As an side note I have had a slight problem with my ignition switch, twice in about 4 months the radio woulden't start when I started my truck had to turn off the engine and restart it for the radio to turn on.

I have order a new AC Delco ignition swith from ebay.

The DTC I have right now is one for the radio: U1000 Class 2 Datalink Malfunction, I assume it's from the ign-switch

I also have a flashing yes / no for the LRD / LGM / EGM module, have no idea what modules they are or if I even have those modules in my truck.

No codes in any other modules including the BCM

Any thoughts??

Ok so not many ppl had any ideas for me to try that might have gotten me closer to my problem. I'll post a small update and maybe somebody can Think of something?

I determined with my Tech2 that it's probably the switch that are bad for my folding mirrors, I can fold them with my Tech2 in DDM & PDM.

I also found an aftermarket DRL module that is spliced in on headlamp switch and the park light wire is cut and spliced in to the module (will disconect later).

I also found a bunch of wires under the rear fuse panel (under rear seat) that are cut and spliced with new wires that running to the rear of the vehicle (will follow and see later, possible to the trailer hitch).

I found no DTC in any module, however in the LGM there is a flashing yes/no on my Tech2 regarding DTC. No DTC is registred and if I clear the LGM DTC it stop flashing yes/no for about 3-5 sec (showing no) then it's back to flashing yes/no again.

But the kicker is the following options in the DIC, and that's why I Think my BCM is fried:

EDIT: I replaced the ignition switch with a new one, no Changes.

Automatic Door Locks

Working

- LOCK DOORS MANUALLY
- LOCK DOORS WITH SPEED
- LOCK DOORS OUT OF PARK
- UNLOCK DRIVER IN PARK
- UNLOCK ALL IN PARK
- UNLOCK ALL AT KEY OUT
- UNLOCK DOORS MANUALLY

Remote Activation Verification

This one I can see in DIC and it's set to BOTH, but I can't change the settings to HORN, LAMPS or OFF. When I purchase the truck in July 2014 i was able to make the changes even though the horn or lamps never chirped or flashes when I push the remote.

- LOCK FEEDBACK: BOTH
- LOCK FEEDBACK: OFF
- LOCK FEEDBACK: HORN
- LOCK FEEDBACK: LAMPS
- UNLOCK FEEDBACK: BOTH
- UNLOCK FEEDBACK: OFF
- UNLOCK FEEDBACK: HORN
- UNLOCK FEEDBACK: LAMPS

Delayed Lighting

This one is working when I turn the ignition off, and I can change the settings even though the time on the lights being on don't changes.

- HEADLAMP DELAY 10 SEC
- HEADLAMP DELAY 20 SEC
- HEADLAMP DELAY 40 SEC
- HEADLAMP DELAY 60 SEC
- HEADLAMP DELAY 120 SEC
- HEADLAMP DELAY 180 SEC
- HEADLAMP DELAY OFF

Perimeter Lighting

This one I could see in the DIC when I bought the truck, but wasen't working when I unlock the truck. Now it's gone missing and no longer in the DIC menu.

- PERIMETER LIGHTING OFF
- PERIMETER LIGHTING ON

Memory Seat Recall

Working

- SEAT POSITION RECALL OFF
- SEAT POSITION RECALL AT KEY IN
- SEAT POSITION RECALL ON REMOTE

Easy Exit Seat

Working

- SEAT POSITION EXIT OFF. (Default)
- SEAT POSITION EXIT ON.

Tilt Mirror In Reverse

This one I never seen in my DIC settings, I guess it should be there sense I have power mirror with heating and folding option?

- TILT MIRROR: OFF (Default)
- TILT MIRROR: PASSENGER
- TILT MIRROR: DRIVER
- TILT MIRROR: BOTH

Content Theft Deterrent Alarm

I can see this one in the DIC and it's set to BOTH, I can no longer change the settings between HORN, LAMPS, BOTH or OFF. But when I trigger the alarm by open the door from inside only horn honks no flashing lights.

- ALARM WARNING: HORN
- ALARM WARNING: LAMPS
- ALARM WARNING: BOTH
- ALARM WARNING: OFF

Display Language

Working

- LANGUAGE: ENGLISH
- LANGUAGE: FRANCAIS
- LANGUAGE: ESPANOL
- LANGUAGE: DEUTSCH
- LANGUAGE: JAPANESE
- LANGUAGE: ARABIC
- LANGUAGE: PORTUGUESE
- LANGUAGE: ITALIAN
- If you accidentally choose a language that you don't want or understand, press and hold the PERSONALIZATION button and the TRIP INFORMATION button at the same time. The DIC will begin scrolling through the languages in their particular language. English will be in English, French will be in French and so on. when you see the language that you want to select, release both buttons. The DIC will then display the information in the language that you selected.

Display Units (E/M)

Working

UNITS: ENGLISH
- UNITS: METRIC KM/L
- UNITS: METRIC L/100KM

Just take it in , having a tech2 doesn't mean ya can fix your truck especially without service information and mechanical experience

That hurt, especially the last part!

If you would take the time to read my profile you would see that I worked as a Tech for 20+ years and the last almost 8 years as a Tech for Huffines Dodge in Lewisville Texas.

You still Think I have no experiance?

Sure I can buy a new BCM and program it here at the shop in Sweden were I'm currently working, but I don't like wasting Money on parts without first make a proper diagnostic check.

All I'm asking is that if any of you GM Techs have seen this problem before and could tell me yes or no. We don't have that many Trailblazers in Sweden and even less vehicles with the same problem I have.

Even if I would take it to a GM dealer here in Sweden, chanses are that they only have very inexperience Techs without any knowledge that only replace parts until problem is fixed = a very big expense for me.

You have to understand that shops here in Sweden want to pay minimum wages to Techs and there fore only hires Young Techs fresh out of school. All the Techs here get monthly salary so they don't give a shit about making a proper diagnostic first, just replace parts and have the customer pay.

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

Upgrades: replaced 'steelies' w/  Vision "Flow" black alloys,  17x8.5"; HDX nerf bar w/steps (black powdercoat); Weatherguard large/deep alloy saddle toolbox; Michelin fitted bedmat (sale, perfect fit) Weathertech door sill guards TBD: rear wheebox liners 4x black fender arch trim - searching for best  (Putco: chrome only; not looking for flares either!) -Bill
    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
