Anyone paint those rims black ??

Hey Guys,

 

Receiving my 2015 in 2 days (pics attached). Wondered if anyone painted those rims bLack or any dark color?

 

If painted, what kind of paint do u recommend ? Do you think car wrap stuff would work on the rims?

 

Sorry for the newbie questions - I'm new to run color change.

Wanted to know the exact same thing. Just about to plastidip my winters....was looking at doing these ones black or maybe anthracite...but my truck is Iridium Metallic so not sure how either will look

I painted my wheels after the clear peeled on my 04. Did 2 coats primer. 2 coats color. And 2 coats of clear. Think it was rustoleum. Take your time and they will look good. Mine are holding up great so far. 2+ years.

I've seen them powder coated as well. I tried finding that photo, but I don't remember where I saw them.

 

That might be another option and if done correctly, a really strong finish.

If I wanted my rims black I'd have the tires dismounted and have them powder coated. It's fairly durable but they'll still chip eventually.

What would be an approximate cost to powder coat 4 wheels gloss black?

Def want to powder coat as others have mentioned. I took my cts v wheels to les schwab and had them done gloss black, wheels look perfect. Cost me close to 400 with paying for taking the tires off and remounting/balancing. They even kept my car in their fenced lot for the week it took.

 

I'm gonna do the same when I get my 2015 denali

May do some googling on plastidip. Look at youtube as well. Ive seen it in person looks awesome. good thing about it is it easily touches up and if you ever want to change it you can.

I went with plasti dip cause it was inexpensive. I used 5 cans at $6 each. Other than that it was just my time. The wheels came out better than I thought. Theyve been painted for almost a year and not one issue. Im not gentile when I wash them either. The only thing is becaue it is "rubbery" the brake dust tends to stick a little bit. But I get in there and scrub them and have not noticed any damage to the paint. I am supriesed at thr durability. I half figured I was not going to be happy with the finish and would end up powder coating them. The other issue I had with powder coating was I couldnt find anyone to warranty the wheels after they were painted. I think I am going to stick with the plasti dip.
