Tyler, love your post this is what I exactly expect to happen. If customers settle for less, they make more, GM Customer Service has yet to respond--they'll get another call soon. Later.

Doesn't sound like any of the product review meetings I've been in (or read the minutes of) but you're welcome

to think what you want.

My post was complete sarcasm. In the end the happiness of many out weighs the complaints of a few. If a handful of people complain but most are happy or they are not even hearing a peep from them then they aren't going to spend money to R&D and redesign a perfectly fine headlight. Personally I think this complaint is comical and have mentioned that time and time again, but it is funny to watch them try and voice their concerns though.

I haven't read about the headlights being poor in any of the magazine reviews or comparison tests when they have their competitors right next to them :dunno:

I would love to see the discussion of that if it actually gets to any of them to make a meeting topic. I would imagine it will go something like this...

"So we have a complaint email about in adequate headlights, Bob/Tim/Teresa, ect what are your thoughts? He doesn't think we have driven one at night to notice."

"I own a high country, they are fine"

"My husband owns a Denali, he loves them"

"I regularly drive them to switch up Executive vehicle program if the Z06/Escalade isn't available, they are great."

"Ok, lets at least check in to this. The man mentioned a forum so lets have one of our kids err I mean interns research this on the forums and follow back up"

Fridays meeting:

"What did you find out Barry?"

"I searched all the big GM truck forums, I tallied 168 complaints across 4 forums, but it is the same guys complaining so my actual total of people complaints are 52. I got 442 saying they are just fine, good, great or similar. I checked our complaint department and only saw 281 complaints across the nation that have been logged either by a dealer or email complaint to GM. 82% of the dealer complaints were solved by a headlight re-adjustment, the others are still ongoing. Overall this ordeal has been brought up to a 0.19% complaint rate out 410,289 sold trucks with the projector headlights."

"Great job Barry. Ok guys, well they are fine; not sure why this guy thinks emailing a head of GM will help. So lets send him an email from Mary's fake email noting thank you, we will look in to it with our engineering team and the NHTSA and send him a free oil change or something. On a more important note, has anyone booked the corporate jet for next weekend? If not, dibs. Oh, who brought doughnuts today?

Tyler

I seriously enjoyed this read. Well done Sir. Just, excellent LOL.

TJ, that just ain't right. Puttin somebody's email addy on the net will just shut it down. Sure as the sun comes up in the east, they'll have a new email address and these will be abandoned.

I called GMC Customer Service and asked if they would provide me subject address. They said they didn't have one but gave me a mailing address; I told them we're in the 21st century, everyone has an email address. I then ungratefully but politely hung up the phone in disbelief being the gentleman that I am. Does anyone here have the address they'd share with me, PM is fine. Thank you.

Hey there GTD!

So sorry for the delay in our response and for the discouraging phone conversation that you had earlier with one of our phone agents. Is there anything that I can assist with getting addressed? Feel free to PM us your information and dealer name/location if this is something that we can support you with.

Looking forward to your reply,

I e mailed Mary Barra and got a response in less than 24 hrs. Two weeks later I got a 500 dollar coupon for any GM accessories. Too bad its not enough to fix my truck.

Emails to those addresses are not read by an executive of the company. Letters to executives (UPS, USPS, FedEX, etc), are not delivered to the respective executive offices. They are received in a facility where they can be inspected for 'substances' and read for threats. Subsequently, they may take one of several routes which may include an office of administrative/executive assistants, customer support/assistance office, or a cubicle designated as "executive customer care" ... all depending upon the content of the communication. In the end, customer communications go to individuals who have zero authority to affect anything (some in the departments have a $250 or a $500 limit to make a problem go away). Their first line is to feign sympathy for your problem and the second is to send you to the dealer (or an alternate dealer if the problem is your original dealer). They do not get compensated for solving problems ... their job is to dump you off back at a dealer. (You are actually not a GM customer ... the dealer is a GM customer.) They will drag it out soooo long, you'll be happy to take $250.00 to reduce your frustration in dealing with them.

You can take legal action; but, that action will always have the dealer as a party and the process will be expensive (think 'bury you in paper'). Internally, they don't really care. There were a few (who don't work there anymore) who'd joke about such threats internally with "our legal department has more lawyers than most large law firms" ... as if they were proud of the fact they had to due to all the legal actions when the better objective might have been toward a time when the CAC and Legal departments were no longer needed because no one called.

I'm not saying don't complain, or don't bring problems/issues to GM. I am saying if you expect nothing, you'll not be disappointed. If you expect it to take several months to get back to you, or your phone calls not being returned, you'll be a happy camper.

500.00 dollars minus $4.95 for hose clamps for my clicking seat = ? Too bad GM accessories doesn't offer any decent assist steps. Not really a fan of those 2x12 roof rafters they call oval running boards. 4 inch rounds look better but have open ends. Maybe I'll get me a new bow tie ball cap or two.

How I enjoy seeing those who think they are entitled to something just because they paid $30,000+ for something that doesn't work right. Welcome to the 21st century, boys. Better get used to it. No matter what brand you go with. The days of "We care about our customers" and "The Customer is Always Right" are OVER.

Those emails are read by the executive assistant to that person, I know because I spoke with the EA who in turn put me in touch with the Chief Engineer over the trucks. Yes there is an executive complaints division as well that you could be dealing with.

I emailed them as well about other issues and had a response on thanksgiving evening. No idea who actually responds (the person they claim to be or a team of people) but I never expected a response at all, let alone on thanksgiving. In the end though, it didn't fix anything.
