Added a 2" level to her4738b133672f7afd12b578d6dd94cdec.jpg

Really like the color matched font end, sharp looking truck you have.

What's with the door emblem, did it come that way or did you add it after purchase? Haven't seen one like that before.

It comes like that, it's a Custom Sport edition. I'm actually thinking about buying 2 of those and replacing them for the decals on my bed sides. But, not sure if I want to try it, especially if I screw up with the positions.

Here is mine after 2 days of paint correction and glass coating (22PLE) application.9879d249-d33d-4765-99aa-0af5cf4ed475_zps4cdead01-b503-47e6-9a00-92cde41878ec_zps6cbdb8d3-fa99-4d00-a13a-c2e99dd1806d_zpsa1bcbcd6-4c65-4fa5-9d46-f1f4f85694fb_zps

Turned out great. Looks perfect. How bad was yours when you started? I will be doing mine here soon. Had water spots when I bought it. What did you use polish and machine wise? I used Adams paint correction before with a hf da with good results. Been looking at the cyclo.

Paint correction is basically what it sounds like. Correcting or "removing" the surface imperfections such as contaminants, scratches, holograms, water spots, hazing or dry spots, etc. The process cleans the surface and cuts the clear coat; it minimizes deep scratches and creates a shiny and smooth paint surface which is then ready for application for sealant and wax application. In this case, it's a semi-permanent coating of 22PLE.

Thanks!

My buddy did much of the work. After clay bar, he started with a 2500 grit, then 4000. Menzerna 105 was also used, but I think it was for rougher spots. He used two polishers, one is a Rupe and the other had a Griotts Garage brand on it.

Paint condition was not bad. I bought the truck on Dec 1 last year and I told the dealer not to prep and not to touch it. It paid and the paint was in a decent shape. Some light scratches, but absent of holograms. Since I had a 600-mile drive home, I took the time to create a bra made of blue painter's tape (photo below) and I'm glad I did. The same buddy installed the clear bra about two weeks after the truck got home, so there was no stone chips. Between then and last week, the truck was driven in Ohio winter. Surface was somewhat rough with contaminants, was grime-laden, salt/water spotted (I rinsed the truck at the end of the day when driven and when weather allowed), but under all those, it was still in a decent shape.

The massive panels were what took so long to cover. I suggested skipping the roof panel between the rails to save time, but he wouldn't have any of it. So, it got a quick buff (not even clay bar since it didn't have contaminants), a wipe of alcohol, and 22PLE.

Really nice looking truck!..........Is the truck on the trailer a true ZR2? I don't remember them being offered with the larger cabs.....Looks like it resembles the ZR5 package that GM offered.

To this day, my ZR2 is still my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. I wish I would have kept that thing, it was a beast. 6" suspension lift wit h35's, it would go anywhere I wanted it to. Should have never sold it, big mistake!

Thanks bud! It actually is a ZR5. It's the fender flares that make it look like a ZR2. They were custom made by a member on the s10 crew cab forum. I agree these s10's are awesome. I just can't get rid of mine. Especially after putting so much money into the solid axle swap lol

And the black out continues :ninja:!

2014 Silverado Black Out

2014 Silverado Black Out2

Wasn't sure how the High Country rims would look in black but I like them so far. I would like a bit wider tire though. Would love any one else's thoughts on blacking out the fog light trim, mirror, chrome center (bottom front bumper) and door handles ... yes or no? Leave it like it is or keep going?

    • same here , i have a 2020 first gen and the cost to repair these engines far excedes replacement
    • But Grumpy I did show several subdivisions that had homes starting in the 170K range. If you bought a Townhouse or Condo you could go cheaper. Same with a car 3000 dollars in the 70s translates to around 20K today. There are several models at that price. You actually get more for the money. In the 70s I drove a 3000$ car bought a 28K home and made 4.50 per hour. Thank goodness for overtime. Today I could buy a 170K house drive a 20K car and make 25 dollars an hour operating the same machine today. The difference the house, car, machine would be better and have AC. And I wouldn’t be taxed on overtime. And statistically your wife works too. Easing the burden. I thought we agreed to disagree. I brought receipts earlier, showing examples. I think you’re more stubborn than me. I was done with this debate.
    • I’m definitely interested to hear the end result here.
    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
