Who needs a source? DOHC engines are the first thing that come to mind. Ever work on one? They're a mess. It's not like they make a ton of more power compared to GM or Dodge's engine designs so I really don't see the need for the over complicated design? There's also the two piece spark plug design. All kinds of issues with that one.

Well if you're gonna make a claim such as that, I'd like a source. But if you're just speaking anecdotally, I understand.

The V6 in my Tacoma is DOHC, and I work on it all the time (maintenance). Nearly all honda and toyota engines are OHC, and when you think of reliability and longevity, those engines come to mind.

The DOHC folks say the same about the pushrod folks. What about the early years of AFM, or the early 2000s Denali trucks quadrasteer, or the skip shift in older manual cars?

Never owned a truck with quadrasteer for the fear of what it would take to get it fixed if something broke. I despise AFM, but the up side is that it can be turned off if I don't want it.

So the argument has devolved into 'sometimes automakers try things that don't work, but for the most part they all make a generally good quality product that works well for people'?

Because if so, I agree!

You're on a GM forum, you aren't going to find much love for Ford Motor Company here. Head over to the F-150 forum and talk about how great GM trucks are, I'm sure you'll see a similar response.

Not saying it's right, but what do you expect?

How long before he has to start FixingOrReparingDaily :smash: LOL! I've had many Fords over the years none have served me very well my Dad on the other hand has a 2002 or 03 crown vic which has over 100k miles on it and has worked out quite well for him. I would consider an F-150 but, these newest ones just don't look very good to me and the 13 and older ones I test drove were not as nice as my GMC IMO.

Speaking of the new F-150, the Wife, and I saw one in black at the mall today. I liked it, looks sharp!

Personally think the new ford is ugly. Like GM and RAM a lot better. I think the tundra looks better then it and the tundra is really ugly IMO

They actually look ok to me. I think their face looks like how the super duty should look.

something tells me that is what is in store for the Next Gen Super Duty.

Looked a super crew in the dealer lot on new years day. Looked good plus 61% of the parts were American, unlike my Sierra which is 40%. Not a bad looking truck, would consider it if I was in the market.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about repairing the body unless it was the actual cab structure.

The days of patching panels is pretty much gone. On newer vehicles, it is a lot easier to just replace the entire panel and send it out the door. The only time this may not be cost effective is when it's something on the truck box.

Saw two of them at the Ford Dealer on Saturday. One cost $47k the other $57k. Crazy prices.
