Diesels come standard with the 4.10's too, don't they?

Nope: 3.73s.

I watched a YouTube vid of the Chevy silverado 2500 6.0 pulling a 20k load up a mtn in Colorado. Not very impressed

I think you have to ask yourself do you need a diesel to tow? Are you towing every day .

1. $ 9,000 upgrade to dura ax

2. Def fluid problems and its additional cost.

3.cost of diesel is more.

I had the same thoughts after seeing that video, but realized would be fine fore me as I will not be driving in any conditions like that but yours may require that extra tourque

I won't be pulling no 20k and I believe a gas motor would be just fine. Just kinda deceiving with the milage to no more power than they show. Makes me think about a ford and the 6.2 coyote

If you dig a little deeper you will find that the 6.2/6.0/5.7/6.4 gas motors in the HD trucks all run very close to one another, there are several uphill test, the 6.0 HD ran right on the 6.2's toes while beating the Ram trucks, the GM truck and drive train are the best you can get in a HD truck.

Having said all that GM HAS to produce a 7.0 direct injection VV motor to go with the 8L90E trans to replace the old aged 6.0 and when that day comes I will go place a order for my new truck!

When will that be for the 7.0

I'd recommend not holding your breath on that, nor attempting to spread rumors. There's not likely to ever be another 7L small block Chevy engine. And GM stopped doing big block motors several years ago.

Why in the world they still put the 6.0 and not the new 5.3 that makes the same torque at 100 rpm lower is beyond me. Then you would see more MPG, but not world changing amount. My guess in 2016 they will have a direct injection motor standard. You are right about most diesel owners not even towing anything, it's silly.

If half tons had enuff suspension I'd just buy a half ton but it'd never hold up to what I need but for te moter and milage it's a better idea so it's apparent u gotta lose 1 to have another

Far as diesels that's why least I feel

Diesel is so much higher. People like joy riding and just saying they "have" one.

Granted that's the joy if life is having what you want but alotta people just dont make sense to me. Especially the young kids out rip roaring around in them. It's all about image it seems to me. Awful high dollar ride just to ride around in

That is nothing new showing off when i was a kid i would see more guys driving a K20 with suites and ties on than guys needing the truck for real work not just the week end toy they use as an everysay driver to the office.

Must be the same all over.

On the 6.2 vs 6.0 I've always felt ford was cheap built.

On the 6.2 a friend who has alotta stocker cattle got a single cab flat bed dually in the 6.2. Him and 3 other trucks. (Duramax stroke and cummins) all was hauling a load of Cale's each on 24' aluminum trailers down the interstate. He run off and left all 3 diesels. Tryn was trying to keep up with him and couldn't do it. Makes Me curious how the 6.0 would hold up to that. Also makes me wonder how long the 6.2 can withstand that kind of work.

The 6.0 is proven for longevity

What if it's not "showing off" as you say? What if they just like the truck as is? A fun fact for you: your new truck would end up costing you a bunch more money if it weren't for those "posers" you're referring to. The more people that buy them, the more GM (Ford, Chrysler) can make, and the less they can charge for them.

Ultimately, the best thing you can do is not worry what others are buying and driving, nor why they're doing so.

I have had a few HD Chevys all with the 6.0. It's coming time maybe within a year to get another. I could justify a diesel maybe %40 of the year but the price isn't justifiable both the initial and fuel costs.

A buddy recently picked up a new 3500 Ram with the 6.4 MDS HDMI. I was impressed. Not blown away, but it made me hopeful GM will do something like it with their HD gas motors. I don't know anything about the Ford 6.2. It's basically a bigger 5.4 from what I am told.

As far as the current 6.0. They have improved in power a little over the years. The motor is just about bomb proof as you can get and is built for durability not power. The cast block and aluminum heads and all their components have little to no long term problems until you really get into higher mileage.

The 6.0 paired with the 6 speed and 4.10's is really the best combo for hauling in the gas options and likely why they don't offer the 3.73 in the gas anymore. I expect crappy fuel mileage when towing. We haul in the mountains and it's not horrible but on short passing lanes when you want to get ahead of a few slower vehicles it would be nice to have a little more just to get the job done.

There is a few custom tuners out there but you are going to need to run premium fuel to take advantage of it and then it isn't gaining you much for cost anymore.
