2WD Lift

Hey guys, I really like the look of a lifted truck with aggressive wheels, however my truck is 2WD...

A few people told me that it would be stupid to lift it without a 4 x 4. Can anyone weigh in with some advice on this?

The suspension is the same between the 2 trucks now. The point in doing so is clearance if needed, and for your taste. It's your truck so do with it what you want

I personally wouldn't lift a 2wd truck, but do what you want. I've seen a few lifted 2wd's, just don't see the use in lifting a vehicle that doesn't have 4wd. Clearly you bought a 2wd because you didn't need a 4wd, so do what you want!!

lifting a 2wd isn'.t stupid as many here say......

i have a 2wd and i have levelled it for now but i'm planning to lift about 2 inch ......

first for the look

second to install bigger tire

third and not the least.............lifting any truck give nothing at all if you stay with stock size tire cause the rear differential will be always at the same height

and fourth......do exactly what you want because it's your truck and you pay for it , exactly the same way a 4wd owner pay for his truck

so , YOU, (those who hate 2wd without any good reason) stop telling everyone that lifting a 2wd is just a waste.........

just my 2 cents and i'm not angry but a negative commentary when someone ask a nice question is just a waste ( more than installing a lift kit on a 2wd lol)

P.S. i was not talking about this topic for bad commentary but i saw so many in other topic that i would just like to kill it before it's coming lol

and yes i agree , installing mud tires will give nothing more ..........i'm planning installing bigger tire but not mudding tire .........just for the look

i have a 4wd vtt and if i see some mud in the trail , i pass beside ...not in the mud loll .......i hate mud

i ride only on road

but i like a higher truck , whatever if it is a 1wd, 2wd or 10wd lol

but again i understand what you said about 2wd and lift but .they make kit to lift our truck . why not installing them lol

I know right! I just want my truck to be a badd-ass mf! Performance wise, I'll likely not get out of it what the lift is intended for, but I want to be a beast out there (without the beast-like capabilities--sadly).

If you want the look but don't need/use 4wd then no doubt do it. What is stupid is buying a 4wd just to lift it for the image and not ever needing/using (that is what we call a poser).

it is a much smarter decision to do it with a 2wd (save gas, money, maintenance, less wearable parts, ect) than go 4wd just for the look.

Have at it OP, the added clearance can help as well with many situations, not just 4wd mud situations.

Besides, most people today couldn't even tell the difference without a 4x4 sticker on the bed or they are mechanical enough to spot a CV axle under there.

Personally I don't see much need for lifting a 2wd unless you turn it into a pre-runner (not into doing major things like that just for looks). A level wouldn't be a bad thing though. It's your truck though, just giving my opinion on it.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, lift the truck if you want, it has nothing to do with 2WD or 4x4. I know a bunch of people who have expensive $40,000-$50,000 trucks that are lifted with 33's, 37's and they won't dare take it anywhere near rocks, they do it for cosmetic purposes, it's their truck!

The same amount of people who say buy a diesel if you get a truck, or get a v8 not a v6 or why get a truck if you don't tow. Blah blah blah, do whatever you want to do to your vehicle, you'll blend right in.

Mine was done just because I had entirely different plans 4 years ago. I did it to clear 285's, my 265's rubbed. Then I went to 20's and left it because I had to tow a travel trailer. IF and WHEN I get this damn max tow F150 done, I will be putting the height back to stock and then eventually lowering.

No reason you cannot level your 2wd, it uses the same spacers as the 4wd, zero difference other then you don't have to worry about bad CV angles.

Don't forget the alignment afterwards.

Having been down south and out west I could see the function of a leveled or even slightly raised 2wd as traction isn't so much the issue as break over angles and high centering are the issue. A 2wd with good tires on it and a locking differential will go just about anywhere!

IF I were going to level a half ton I would use the Bilstein leveling shocks as the stock shocks suck and you kill two birds with one stone this way.

It's your truck you can do what you want, if people don't agree so what. I agree with AMX and SMiller . To me there's nothing worse than one of those mega lifted "parking lot 4X4" jockeys who probably don't even know how to puy there truck in 4wd.
