vled LMZ led headlights

VLED LMZ 45W bulbs do not fit under the OEM dust cap without modification. They stick out quite a bit. However, I have doubts about them not working with SLE headlights. My Silverado uses the low beams as DRL's, and the LMZs run just fine.

 

Oh, maybe mike1220 used the extended printed caps unless with the FX-R retrofit works without modifying the cap? In any regard, he is using HIDs now.

Yes I used the extended caps for the LMZs. Got the caps from Jon A

Correct, I'm pretty sure Mike used the custom 3D printed caps. To be honest, I've been running my LMZ's with the dust caps cut out. I still haven't found a way to seal them completely. Humidity gets in when I wash the truck, but leaves rapidly in about 3 minutes. No effect in torrential rain, nothing gets in. I'll seal it eventually, but it doesn't have me worried.

Don't know how big the cut out is on yours, but the caps from Jon a will accept the gortex patches from trs with a perfect fit. I've been moisture free for months now with the patches on there.

VLED's 45 LMZ fits under the cap without modifying according to Mike1220 if I recall correctly. And they were plug and play with SLT+ because SLT does not use the main bulb for DRL where SLE and below uses 6V to power DRL. I am sure the 25W LMZ will work plug and play with the SLE as they use way less power.

These also fit under the dust cap without any modification required.

 

Why pay more for low watt LMZ's when you can have these for less than half the price and not worry at all about DRL issues on SLE models.

 

I'll say it again, LMZ's are a rip off and way over charge you for what you get.

Are these adjustable for depth and clock? If not, I'm not sure how they're going to give a decent beam pattern with the Sierra projectors. Do you have any pics of their cutoff?

I'm using these in a Silverado with standard housings not projectors so I don't know how well they would work.

With all the money you saved buying your led's, I know you can grab some windshield washer fluid. Still waiting for these comparison shots to see your cutoff, throw, output lol...

Prices for Washer fluid are crazy high right now, no way can I afford it!!

Are the ones you have adjustable in offset? The emitting diode, is it as big as the filament size or are they a bigger size? If they are bigger size, they will scatter and lose light output

Yeah, the diodes on those are a lot bigger. The LMZ diode are even shorter than actual filament. The plate those are sitting on are pretty thick, they are not as close to as the center as possible. As for the offset, wont be able to tell unless a measurement is made.

 

These wont be as efficient as LMZ in light distribution, certainly will suffer in reflectors. They might be easy swap, but their output are no where near the 4500lm on the 45w LMZ with better light control.

 

If you ever have problems with retrofitted lights, you should always be able to fix it by using a cheap relay and harness, and if you get flicker, you just need a cheap computer capacitor.

 

It is good to know what options are out there though

It's been a week now of me emailing back and forth between them and I about the issues I've been having. You think when you spend several hundreds of dollars, you hope to get good customer service with it....

 

Time shall tell. So far, I have gone thru 2 fog light bulbs, and currently, my hid wiring is burning up at the connector ( all of which is their wiring following their wiring diagram ) and the connector between the factory harness for the fog lights to the LMZ ballast broke off at the end... Still waiting to see what they say..

The whole point behind the LMZ lights is that they can be adjusted to work acceptably in the projectors. So if these can't, saying the LMZ's are a ripoff might not be appropriate.

Is the cuttoff cleaner with the halogens? I don't think I've seen a pic of the stock non-projector lights posted. The above isn't a very clean cutoff and looks like it needs to be adjusted down a lot to keep from blinding oncoming traffic.
