I swapped bulbs, and since the old drivers side bulb lit up in the passenger side, I knew it was the bulb, not the ballast.

How much is cheaper? I see your bulbs posted in the led head/fog thread were 3000 lumens each vs 4500 these have. Kind of like the design of those bulbs you posted though! I am thinking about getting a set of yours for my fogs.

I'm ended up trying out the JDM Astar H11s 4th gen from a few post back. They're actually rated at 2000 lumens ea so plenty bright enough as a low beam. I did have to grind the big tab down a little in order to get the bulb oriented horizontally. I've had them for about 2 weeks now and so far I'm actually pretty impressed with them for $80. Everything fits under the stock cap as well. This is the only pic I have with them. Kinda tough to get one that really shows the color they put out. They're probably pretty close to 5000k hid with just a hint of blue.

What kind of cutoff or glare do you get in these with stock halogen housings?

It's definitely not as clean as a halogen but I haven't been flashed at all and I've driven several times at night.

Just wanted to say that I am very happy with VLEDS and their customer service. They had a replacement bulb out to me in a matter of day after following their easy warranty claim

has anyone installed these LED 9012 replacements with the copper mesh as the heat sync rather than the cooling fans? Wondering if these will all fit inside the stock dust cap or would I be better off buying the extended versions I saw on here somewhere?

I honestly think they are really bad design, non aluminum housing already reduced the heat dissipation rate, and it is "heat sink" not "heat sync" lol. The heat sink design does not look adequate, even the LMZ heat sink without fan will out perform those feather design.

 

The black housing will absorb some light output too, not much, but not the most efficient way designing something.

 

Aluminum housing is probably the best so far, it dissipates heat and also reflects the scattered light back to the headlight housing.

Your offset looks almost too far back though, you should use a caliper and compare the offset from the o-ring to the filament from the original bulb to the LMZ's, exactly what I have done, perfect beam pattern!

Wanted the LMZ kit for my Silverado but now not so much. Lol these projectors suck and I'm sick of HIDS
