If I am just planning on replacing the rear shocks would that have any effect on the warranty? the bumper to bumper warranty is still good for another year.

Nope and you will LOVE IT!  I recently did mine... Max 20 mins to install.   I am upset a waited this long, it is just a better ride.

Just did the 4600s on my 96 and made a world of difference. Maybe bc the originals were 21yrs old!! Either way will be adding the 5100s to my 18 Silverado soon.

Can I have your Tahoe?

Nice truck! Gotta love that old 2-door big Blazer type vehicle. I've had 2 of them and wish I had kept them. Possibly in a year or two I will be on the hunt for another one.

Went to the shop to get a quote and an appointment to get my 5100 installed on the front of my 18.  Was quoted $315 for install and alignment... I just hate that I have a lifetime alignment with firestone.  The plus is this a a good shop... Another negative is the appointment is 3/9...

So, just get them installed at the shop, and aligned at Firestone. Or find out how much Firestone will charge to install them, then align.

This isnt rocket science. It's just too dangerous to do without a wall mounted spring compressor.

Yeah. I will be doing that, i just don't want to to the spring compression

I looked around for a while for this one. They are getting harder to find in good condition. This one has 147k miles. I’ve bought and sold a few but hope I can keep this one. I could sell this in my area for 8-10k. Not uncommon to see them go for a little more!

Would you believe I bought my 94 in 2006 for something like $2,000. I bought my 93 in 2014 or so for even less. Eventually there was enough work to be done on each that I sold them. The rear frame of the 93 cracked on both sides just in front of the rear spring shackles. I am no welder...the 94 was just a bunch of little stuff I could have done given some time. I really should have hung on and just did the work.

Finally got my 5100 on the front of my truck.  Took the struts to a machine shop... They used the old lock nuts on the piston rod instead of the flange nuts... Kinda pissed me off.  The machinist said I didn't give him the parts or instructions... He put the flange nuts on the 3 post screws and the instructions were oily.  I talked to him because he was pissed off when the manager talked to him... So then he says the flange nuts were not slas strong to him.  Then he says of-roading will void my warranty anyhow.  I Said, first it's for my safety and not warranty.  Just follow the instructions...

This is why I like to do my own work... Anywho..   I went ahead and put them on the truck.  I had them set to the second notch.  The ride is stiffer, but I will check them out more later.

What prices are you guys paying for a full set front/rear of bilstein 5100s? I’m seeing prices from $380 to $450. Also how much should I expect to pay to have the fronts installed?

I got my 5100's from Nick at Kolak performance. Paid $360 for front and rears. Did the rears myself and realized getting the fronts out of the coil-overs was an exercise in big ass-pucker factor, so I took the fronts to a local shop that charged me $100 to swap them out. That was $100 well spent, as I got to keep my face and fingers intact AND drive my truck away from there a happy customer.

You pair $5 less than I did for the total package and install... Probably less in time too!  Very happy so far

    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
