So guys that have put this in the 4.3, the port on the valve cover goes to the inlet of the can and the outlet goes to the port that goes into the side if the intake manifold correct? Or reverse?

OK, I'm catch canned. Before you flame me, I catch canned both the clean and dirty sides of my 6.2 because from what I've seen of LS engines there is no clean side. I really like these ADD 1W catch cans, some of the best on the market.

Nice job should keep it clean. What kind of 3/8 hose did you use. I see you used oem clip on ends did you cut them out of the old hoses or buy the ends.

Thank you. I used AN -10 (5/8") push to lock hose on the the two clean air catch cans (mounted on the cowl) and standard pcv 3/8" hose on the dirty side catch can (mounted on the left fender). I bought two replacement OEM clean air hoses and one OEM dirty side hose and cut the fittings off them to use for all engine attachments. Probably would be cheaper to just buy the ends, but I couldn't find them at the time.

I just received my catch can in the mail today I purchased the silver color. The machining is impressive and the quality is first class, I just ordered a new foul air PCV hose from my dealer so I can use the quick connect fittings for the install it will take a week to get this as it needs to come from the USA. Hopefully by that time the weather will be above zero so I can do the install.

Can you elaborate on this?

 

Assuming this would be so that you can return to the stock hose arrangement?

Correct. I want to be able to quickly change it back if I decide to change my truck and reuse it on my next truck

Not yet but I will be ordering it soon for my 4.3, but there some videos on YouTube and from that you can see what goes where. Shouldn't be different then the 5.3 Edited by NitroDatsik

I decided to do something different for adding media to the filter, I was afraid that the stainless steel pot scrubber material would somehow break apart and get sucked into the intake manifold so I went with stainless steel mesh instead I used key rings for spacers in between the mesh and assembled it. I also added O rings to the inlet & outlet fittings as well as the dipstick this will ensure there are no leaks. I am now working on fabricating an aluminum bracket to mount the can. Waiting for the weather to warm up to do the install. :)

I am a little confused by the Installs shown here as well as the ADD-W1 Instructions shown in post #1. Hoping we can sort this out.

So the picture on the left shows the "dirty air" coming into the catch can as "Inlet". This makes sense as the dirty air comes into the can, swirls, larger stuff drops to bottom, vapor has to make the way up and THROUGH the internal filter/baffles (and other media if added) and exits out the "Outlet" as Clean Air. This is how both the RX and the Saikou system works.

 

The picture on the right though, with the red arrows, shows the exact opposite, which makes no sense. It looks like the dirty air is routed straight into the ADD W1's "Internal Filter", then into the open chamber and out. This seems backwards to all of the information I have researched regarding catch can construction. Am I reading the ADD W1's instructions wrong?

 

Here is the routing (with a video) of the Saikou system for reference:

I think the ADD-W1 could be a viable alternative, but it seems like the instructions are backwards (the red arrows), as well as the their "outlet"/"inlet" markings on the can itself. I am thinking the design of the can is solid, but the markings are backwards.

Yeah, that does look backwards. I just pulled my instructions and they are the same.

 

The way I have mine set up; the hose from the dirty air (under the throttle body) goes into the can where the internal filter is at. The wire mesh stuff I have in the internal filter captures and water/oil and drips into the can. The clean air (side with the dip stick) connects to the side of the engine.

 

I hope mine is connected correctly.
