As a follow-up... I got this device a couple weeks ago. 5 minute install. Very easy. Works perfectly and now opens up the OBDII port for diagnostics. Money well spent. Realtruck.com

I have done a lot of research on the AMP Powersteps. I cannot find any negative reviews, this is saying something in this age of the internet and negative reviews. From what I can tell you get your moneys worth.

Regarding price, there is a thread somewhere on this site, seems best price for the plug and play is something like $1050 shipped. At least per my memory.

I've had my Amp Powersteps on the truck since June 2014 and they still work great. A month after installation, I had to re-torque the bolts (not sure if installer tightened them up properly in the first place) and 3 of the 4 LEDs died over time. I contacted AMP tech support and they sent replacement LEDs out right away - the told me they were aware that they had a bad batch. No issues since.

As far as price goes, I sent AMP an email about getting them installed and then I contacted their referral to a local Hitch & Truck accessories provider who installed them for $1,300 plus tax.

I installed mine myself. Took about 8 hours but I am very retentive. Install is actually very simple, but time consuming, to make sure you route everything right. The only thing I used another set of hands for was to actually put the boards on the mounts. Could have done it myself, but it was of course easier with another person. I paid $1060 shipped from Amazon. They look and work perfect and the quality is phenomenal. Well worth the cost. Let me know if you have specific questions or want specific pics.

Amp says you can just hose off snow/ice/mud if needed. Are they really that low maintenance/reliable in variable conditions?

I have had mine for about 18 months so far and had to do nothing to them maintenance wise.

I've been checking the bolts/re-torquing every oil change. I've only had 1 loose in over a year. The steps are great. I'd never go back to fixed steps after having these!

I ordered and installed a set of AMP research power steps about 4 months ago. No issues with them at all and the OBD pass through harness made the install easier then I though. I ordered mine from 4wheelparts since they had free shipping and I was able to get them to include the OBD harness for free. They are expensive but IMO worth every penny.

Ditto on quality and DYI install. No regrets. Took longer than advertised but I could do it again in half the time. While the torque recommendations are unnecessary for fit/finish and operation, I do regret not using lock washers and or Loctite the first time. My bolts also loosened after a month and I'll re-install them properly on a rainy day. Hopefully, the smart thing I did do was to spray Fluid Film liberally behind the mounts and all over them and the motors to prevent corrosion.
